Mine were at 0.042-0.038. 1 or 2 were at 0.042 and the others all 0.038-0.040.

See how she runs tomorrow...as I re-gapped all to 0.033. The back side of a Milwaukee sawzall blade works good to be able to pry. Put it between the insulator and the curved ground tip, then as long as you don't twist it's all metal to metal.

Is there a tip to get the wires off the coils? I couldn't get them off so I finally just pull the whole thing out with the wires still connected. I tried sliding the red locking tab down but they still wouldn't come off, even watched the videos by CoreyMS - the plug to the solenoid/pump was easy enough to get off, just not the coils...
*Got it, need to squeeze on the grey piece that is under the red tab after you pull the red tab back.

Just set all mine to .030. Any stuttering is gone, but is it possible that even with the race tune, I lost some performance? Probably in my head, but it seems to not have the same punch?? Would I do better to put all about .032 or so, maybe my issues were from the huge variance in the stock plugs?

thanks

I have noticed this. After driving a few days with the NGK LTR7's, I can definitely say that my truck has less power now with NGKs than it did before with the tune and stock plugs at 0.034. Sure it seems smoother, but I want my power back. I'm reinstalling the stock plugs this weekend.

Placebo effect maybe? I haven't noticed any difference in power, good or bad, but it is smoother. The only way we will know for sure is to do a before and after dyno session.

I installed stock plugs, just new ones. I even switched tunes, and same deal, seems like I'm heading into a headwind?? I was expecting MORE power if anything, so I don't think its a placebo effect. Just annoying, maybe I will re-gap all my stocks to .032 and re-install.

no way some new plugs gapped to 0.030" is going to lose any noticeable power, if anything it will stop misfires (stutter) from spark blow-out

Stocks maybe, but throw in a different heat range on an already over-complicated motor and see what you get. I don't have access to a dyno but I can tell you my truck feels doggy now. Same hill that I climb every day on my way home from work I can't even hit 70mph in the same amount of time I used to. That, and my truck no longer wants to hold the TC lock in 5th or 6th.

I run a 93 octane race tune, and it is not all the time, but seems to getting more noticeable. So, I decided to gap them all to .030, and install them, and measure the gaps on my factory plugs and see the difference.
One of the very first things my high school auto shop instructor taught us kids was that spark plugs ARE NOT GAPPED properly right out of the box. You must check and adjust each one to the vehicles spec before installing. Also if you add anti-sieze or any other lubricant to the threads, you should de-rate the torque values by at or around 10%.

Did you disconnect your battery before changing plugs?

So a thousand miles later my truck is still driving like it was before. No hesitation or stutter or rough idle. Just re gapped factory plugs to .034. Originally the passenger side were all .034 and driver side were .040. No change in mileage either.
