Eco spark plug gap

There is no going backwards with new strategies from the dealer.
They state this quite clearly to me before flashing my update. The service manager and shop foreman are also my friends and wouldn't bs me on that.
Tuner was the best solution for me.

It's true, can't be done.

Before the 2013 reflash, I was getting an average of 20.9 MPG and "self timed" 0-60 any where from 6.3 to 6.9 seconds. I now average 17.7 MPG and 0-60 times are 7.5 to 8.5. The service managers have no answers or fixes for me. I don't want anything special, I just want it the way it was.

Yep, another "reflash victim" here. I lost alot of acceleration and MPG due to a reflash back in August of 2013. I asked if they detuned the truck by doing that and was told "no I don't believe Ford would do that". Took it to a different dealer and they said that the program was out of date so they reflashed it again. (I was never told they were doing it, just that they did it) After the second one, it seems even slower.

My 2013 felt down on power during towing compared to my 2011, well actually it couldn't tow up hills or on the flat in the same gears the older truck did.
After getting the latest 2013 model year flash it shifted, towed, and mileage went up much closer to the 2011, but hills while towing still showed peak and mid power down to the 2011.
Empty I could not tell the difference other than slightly worse mileage in the 2013, and driving characteristics are different due to revised tuning.
My 5* tunes fixed my complaints and turned my 2013 into a 2011 killer. Huge power gains for towing. Better shift patterns and mileage increase. Just better in many ways.
I will be running the economy or transmission only tune in winter simply so I don't spin my Blizzaks off at every stab of the throttle. A nice soft power delivery at light throttle helps the icy driving.

I take it yours is a 2012?

I notice that alot of folks are tuning their own vehicles on here. I do not have one and this truck is completely stock. Number one, it's a personal use company truck and I don't spend much of my own money on them. Number two, as far as all the new tech gadgets are concerned out there... well lets just say I'm not too familiar with that kind of stuff. I guess I've been hesitant to come out of the garage since the early eighties.

I've got a new '14. Has anyone come across misgapped plugs in the newer trucks? Has the factory possibly gotten this under control? I'm not having any idle or stumble issues, debating pulling the plugs as precautionary.

You have the updated plugs from the factory. If issue free and not running a hot tune, I'd leave them be. I would change them out at 30k though...

we've seen a lot of weak and in some cases bad coilpacks lately, especially on 2011/2012s. they are only $40 new from rockauto. I suggest you guys consider this an equally important item as spark plugs

I'll admit right off that I didn't read every page of this thread. And this question has probably been asked.... Has anyone checked their plugs at 50,000 miles and not needed to replace them? I talked to my local ford dealer today and they thought it crazy to spend money on replacing plugs before the recommended 100,000 mile interval. I bought my 2011 Ecoboost 4x4 with around 36,000 miles and I was getting a few miles per gallon better then I am now with around 50,000. After reading the first 16 pages it sounds like I'm way over due.

Regapped
On my original set I took them out and re gapped to about 33 or 35. Can't remember. Ran those to 120k mi and changed then. I'm up to 180k miles then on 2nd set and still showing lifetime average of 18.8 mpg. Most of mine is highway anyway and I still have yet to change original brake pads.

Just to follow up, I checked my plugs yesterday and they were all at around 0.30. They looked a little black around the ring but the tips looked ok. I had already purchased new plugs expecting the worst so I threw them in the truck gapped at 0.29. I could have returned the plugs but I figured what the hell.
