Just checked mine today. All were a tight .031.

Set all to .035. Was not having any issues but does seem to idle smoother.

I was glad because the Denso's were my first choice anyway, and the truck really likes them.
OEM Ford plug on the EB is made by NGK. It has their part number stamped into the hex.

Autolite was Ford's old in house parts brand before they spun it off, but continued as the OEM for Ford's plugs for 30 or so years. It has only been recently that I've noticed the switch to NGKs on most of their vehicles. I wouldn't be surprised it there was a fallout with them after the 2 piece plug debacle.

Yeah, I knew they were the cheaper NGK iridiums. I asked Ford and they don't have those plugs and only carry the Motorcraft double platinum's for the Ecoboost.

sounds like you are all good - i personally would have left it 0.031 since this is a turbocharged engine but either way that is in the ballpark

Adjusted mine a few min ago to .030 they were all different had one as close as .035. Wasn't to hard, pain in the *** pulling the caps. But started it up and idle was MUCH better! No studder. Also noticed the shudder at low speeds wasn't there, and smooth as always on the highway. I Orderd a livernois tuner so I will be installing that early next week. But even without the tune I suggest doing this If you have these problems.

I wanted to try what Ford recommended first and .35 is right in the middle of the range. To date I have not noticed any major difference. But I do not work the truck hard.
When I was tuning my Mustang with a KB I noticed a big difference with just a couple thousandths change at he track but not on the street.

I've been seeing a lot of 2011 Ecoboost's with the spark gap issue. With our custom tunes adding boost and power it makes the stock situation even worse; feeling like a rev limiter with noisy spark blow out at full wot.

If you've never heard that before it sounds like a backfire pop and misfire all happening pretty quickly. It sounds and feels pretty scary when it happens and you weren't expecting it.

Most cases either a re-gap to 030 or a trip to the dealer to get a pcm update resolve the issue.

I know my 2012 has factory gap, way more than factory boost and runs great.

Mike, whats your thought on using 1 step colder plugs? My truck seemed to be smoother all around with them. I switched back to the OEM plugs gapped at .030" and still it feels like a miss here and there.

Could be a plug quality issue, rather than a heat range issue. I've swapped back and forth a few times as well. I get similar mileage and performance. I'm thinking about testing a set of stock heat range better quality plugs next.

Watt, both gapped the same? Gap can change idle quality ect....

I'm hoping to get mine regapped Sunday before the cold front hits. Stock gap worked fine but I think with the tunes and what not it needs to be smaller. I'm at .034 right now.
