Eco mileage

I am currently getting 12.5 mpg with 100% city driving. I have not been into the gas that much. It has been fairly cold here in ND so I usually let it warm up for about 10-15 min in the morning. My od has about 1200 miles so far. Last highway tip was approximately 300 miles and I got 17.6. I was expecting better mpgs. Will the mpgs improve once I get more miles on the motor? What are your thoughts?

3.73 6.5 screw. Average speed when I achieved 17.6 was 70

yes that seems low. Are you driving short distances? for me city is 15/16 and hwy 17-23 depending on speed/wind. At 70 I get 20 or so in 0 wind. headwind kills mpg

The truck does not need to warm up for that long. Let it run for 30 seconds or so then take it easy for a mile or two. It will warm up a lot faster being driven than idling. You're wasting a lot of fuel. It will get better mileage as the miles are racked up.

3.73 6.5 screw, 2" level, 25000km. Just put on some Terra Grapplers last week and now I get 15mpg on the highway. I am not impressed, to say the least.

To much idling... Just take it for a 10 min spin down the road and then let it sit and idle and watch how quickly your gas mileage drops.

I would get a grill cover or make some kind of grill block...gets to temps quicker and a bit higher...equates to better mpg.

Even discoing the cold air intake will get better mpg in cold air.

I would think that in your area blocking the top section and just leaving the bottom opening would be fine.

My first reaction was the ethanol in the fuel up there. It killed my mileage when I passed through last month (filled up 3 times to get across the state on I-90). It could be a mixture of the EtOH and all that idling. I let mine idle until the turbo's spool down (about 15-20 seconds) then drive it easy to the highway (about 2 miles). By the time I'm at the highway the engine is up to temp and the trans is over 110 degress.

I get 17-18 average. Mostly city driving. My first few tanks were 14-15mpg. As it broke in the mileage got better.

My avg fuel economy since I purchased the truck, 2100 miles ago is 12.3. Best milage noted has been 15.6 and I got sick of going 60mph, best towing milage was 9.2 and worst for a 228 miles trip from Dallas going 65-70mph at 6.9mpg. I had it in for milage issue and they took it for a 55mph drive w/ no a/c and got 18.5 and told me my truck was fine... Maxwell Ford, stay the **** away from them!
