Ouch! You're right about the DIY cost savings. I wonder if the check engine light would reset automatically too, or if I need the dealer for that item?

If you knew me you'd really laugh. I'm the guy who built his own house to save money, and rebuilt his boat engine to save money. I'm so gun shy with this ecoboost, and I shouldn't be. Ugh!

I will 2nd that on replacing the rest of the plugs. Mine were toast at 41K. Otherwise, this will happen again. I was also a little gun shy about it, so I ordered the SP-534 plugs from RockAuto.com and had the dealer replace the SP-528 plugs for $80. I checked with them first and they told me that is what they use now, but were out of stock. Paid about $24 from RockAuto. My old plugs were gapped out of spec right from the factory. Truck runs much better now.

If you have an Android phone, you can buy Torque Pro for $5 and a blue tooth ODBII adaptor for $10. Then you will be able to check and clear codes yourself as well as monitor several aspects of the engine running. Very cool.
