I had an Ecoboost Flex, and after 27K+ miles, not one single issue. I know it isnt the same engine as the F150, but it is the same basic design, Direct Injection, twin turbos, 6 cylinders, 3.5L displacement.

OP: The EB is fine, there are only a few 'cons' that I can tell and those are the extra cost, cannot run e85 (probably not a big deal, certainly is not where I live) and the falling flat on its face occasionally (though it doesnt seem to actually occur that frequently). given the price of the truck to begin with, the additional cost is relatively minor. 'pros', more power, mad torque, slightly better mpg's are possible.

Go away, just go away, go on, in your 5.0
Sounds like another one who realized that, ah crap, I shoulda got the TT.

Back on topic, you'll love the TT. Apparently you'll look and feel "HOLIER THAN THOU" when your driving it too.

They also seem to get a little indignant when the little RCSB pulls em off the line and they can't catch up!

point proven. thanks.

Ok, really, why do you assume that people who bought a 5.0 wish they had bought an ecoboost? So far, I've seen more posts from EB owners who were disappointed with their trucks than I have 5.0 owners (mostly due to mileage not being as advertised which seems to be one of the biggest complaints about the EB). I have zero regrets about my purchase. My truck does what I need it to do. It gets me from point a to point b, tows my camper and my trailer and hauls my trash to the recycling station.

I just went to KBB and checked a 2011 Eco Verses the 5.0 in a 2011 XLT 4x4 screw with 20,000 mi.

5.0 retail 32,762 Eco 35,297. All I ask is weather you like the Eco or not what other 750.00 option could you put on a 2011 F150 that would return a 1785.00 dollar premium after expenses. My area code I used for KBB was 62701.

I realized that Ford raised the price of the 2012 but if the resale of the ecoboost holds up its the best buy.
The 2012 ecoboost cost more now. The dealer told me Ford was absorbing the remaining cost to help push the engine sales.

I've been lurking around here for a bit, thinking about getting a 2012 Eco Lariat 4x4. Now Im not so sure:
Ecoboost slightly better milage, better power and torque stock.

But, as far as modding, the 5.0 might be the way to go. You can add a supercharger $$$, and top the stock eco in power and torque. You dont have to worry about the intercooler of the eco and can add a hidden winch. If you had a need to do light and occasional plowing and added a light plow, again the 5.0 looks better to me for that. The ecoboost is almost maxed as far as power and torque, although tuners are out and giving good numbers, the 5.0 probably has the higher potentiial power/torque with mods.

Hope to make up my mind soon, I want a truck thats mostly all truck, but a little bit toy that can be built up.

You are correct a modded 5.0 RCSB might pull a stock Eco off the line.
