Eco Boost Fuel Presure
 

Well. Got my new Lariat EB on 4/7..got home with in and when I tried to start it again...didn't want to start...eventually got Check Engine light...with 52 miles on it:censored:. emailed salesman and aranged to get it looked. They got truck yesterday and said bad High Pres fuel pump...took pump off truck from lot to fix...got email stating fixed and picked truck up. Got it home for the second time and quest what..then :censored: thing did the same thing. I love the truck, but it doesn't do me any good. I sure hope they get it figured out. Something is causing low fuel pres. when it is warmed up.

sorry just had to bi#$% about it.

This is not good. The HPFP has been a huge problem for BMW in their DI engines. Hopefully it doesn't become one for ford as well.

When I saw this I called our GE Fleet Manager and asked him to research how many of these failures they had showing in their system, he got back to me with the answer of very few.

Well got email from salesman and they had Ford Rep at dealership looking at issue today and have been in contact with plant in Dearborn MI. Word now is fuel pump assembly cracked and to be replaced tomorrow when parts arive (overnighted from plant). Hoping for the best.

Got truck back and has not repeated issues yet. I will monitor and keep you posted.

The issue was the fuel pump assembly having a crack resulting in not being able to hold preasure. Apparently this is not a new issue, but not something that happens very frequently. Sounds like something getting over tightened causing the issue.:thumbsup:

With direct injection pressure after the front fuel pump can be upwards of 2200 psi. So anything slightly Off could cause catastrophe.

Yes BMW recalled all of the HPFP's because of this I had 2 fail on me in 3 years. Another problem is the high pressure piezo fuel injectors which I had all 6 replaced on my 335.

Seems to be hit and miss with these as some guys never had an issue. Most had their pumps fail hence the recall which slowly moved onto the injectors hence the 2nd recall. BMW programs the injectors to the car so you simply cant buy one and install it which I think is a money grab.

It was a bit of a hassle but not too bad, I'm glad I had the warranty tho. With these new trucks I'm interested to see what happens 1-2 years from now.
