Default eco to 5.0 swap

my 2013 eco is making the dreaded timing chain noise and my local dealers are quoting in the range of $3,000 canuckistan pesos to do the job. friend of mine has a 5.0 from a rear ended truck for significantly less. its also a swap i can do myself. Has anyone done anything along these lines?

You'll need a bunch of stuff other than the motor. I haven't seen anyone do that swap, but it has to be possible given the complete donor truck.

A couple of things that you will probably need
Wiring Harness
ECM
Gauge Cluster
Transmission or TCM (depending on what the differences are for both motors)

I would think it's better to fix the timing chain issue and move onto another vehicle.

Probably be a fun project, but I would assume the truck would be down for some time.

May as well trade your truck in. You want to do more than double the work to fix an issue.
I'd just get the timing chain fixed and enjoy the truck for many more KM's.

Fix it or drive as is. There are a few guys on here that have put many miles on their ecoboosts with the rattle.
