EB engine break in?
Just bought a brand new 2012 F150 FX4 with the EB engine. I've never owned a brand new car so i'm really excited about it, absolutely love the truck even tho i've only had it for 1 day. Just a quick question is there anything i should do (or not do) in regards to breaking in the engine?
One thing i heard was that not to let it sit at a consistent speed or RPM range for a long time, say on the highway, and that it was best to vary speed and RPM if possible.
Any other info i should know to help prolong the life?

I know some will hate this but if you read the owners manual it will tell you everything you need to know. You'll get a lot of information on this site, some good, some not so good, but I always trust the manual.

I for one have owned several new vehicles and built a few engines for other projects, the owner of the first shop I worked at told me and Fred(Flintstone) that you always want to break them in the way you're gonna drive them. I have followed that advise and have never lost and engine. If it's going to break I want it to happen while it's under warranty.

Is that the book the salesman tries to go over with you and all you want to do is take that new baby out and drive?

The OM does state to put 1,000 miles on the truck before you hook up anything and tow it........

I almost fainted when I saw the reply about towing heavy loads on the second day.
I ordered my truck to tow a 9,500 lb boat and trailer along with a 8,000 lb toy hauler. My truck will get a reasonable amount of miles on it before I hook up to either of these trailers.
As for how I intend to break it in. I intend to drive it normal.
