A Dumb Question About 5.0 Oil Filter Changing
It's true that in America we change our oil on a far too frequent interval. It is also true that if your engine has some type of Vanos system the oil needs to be kept clean clean clean. I have been a BMW owner since 2001 and the work-around for this is to change the oil filter between regular oil changes. You can do this because for the BMW filter is at the top front of the engine. When removing the filter the oil held in the filter just drains back down into the engine. On my 5.0 the oil filter is on the bottom front of the engine. I have images in my mind of unscrewing the filter and seeing the crank case being completely emptied. So my question is what will really happen?
