Down pipe or Exhaust ?

Dollar for dollar which mod would be better to do first? Funds are limited so do I go for the down pipes or catback exhaust, please help me decide.:)

Down pipe FTW. Plenty of guys making good power with down pipe and stock exhaust. We carry MAK and MBRP, both a great y-pipes.

Thanks, sotr of like Quiet stock Exhaust, also looking forwad for turbo upgrades.

Hey man that's ironic, because we can do both:thumbup:

mak downpipe

solo mr300 resonator inplace of stock resonator, and aero turbine 3030xl in place of stock muffler

Franchi Motorsports 09-29-2013 09:45 PM

Performance? Downpipe.

Sound? Catback.

Pick your poison. :-)

FlameBlueFX4 09-29-2013 10:38 PM

If I could do it over. I'd gone SOLO catted downpipe since they incorporate a 3" resonator into their y pipe. Get rid of stock resonator and be content with that.

Just my 2¢…

ecoboost clark 09-30-2013 06:39 AM

Thanks for the replies, I think I am going for the downpipes, I really don't want to gain too much sound, but do want some performance gains to go along with the tune I have.

FordFasha2013 09-30-2013 07:30 AM

Here's my cat back borla with custom 4" dual pipes and tips. Not to load at all and nice growl.

ecoboost clark 09-30-2013 04:15 PM

Thanks for the video, I had borla system on last truck . It sounds good.

The gains from doing the Y-pipe are hard to argue with. Dollar for Dollar our y-pipe out performs not only any catback in its price range but also any catback in any other price range. That is just the nature of the mod.

I can tell you on the 2013+ trucks our Offroad ypipe doesnt make the truck any louder if it still has the factory catback. It does amplify the turbo whistle alot more.

Yes it does..

ecoboost clark 09-30-2013 05:13 PM

Going to Mak website right now.

StrawHatShinobi 09-30-2013 05:20 PM

I love my MAK, definitely hear those turbos spooling. I'm half tempted to put my stock exhaust back on until I can get into something a little less obnoxious.

I hear ya. I just over the weekend ordered the MACH 46 muffler to replace the MR400 resonator. Had I known just how loud it would have been I'd had Jeff with SOLO swap them out before they shipped the cat back to me.

It sounds great especially in tunnels and going under overpasses but just a little too loud.

Do you make a catted y also ?

ecoboost clark 09-30-2013 08:59 PM

I believe they do it is offered as an option on stainless down pipes.

Yes we do we offer it in both stainless and aluminized.

rhoads_11 10-27-2013 06:27 AM

Is anyone running the MBRP OR Y pipe

yotesmc 01-08-2014 04:32 PM

Can you run a catted y pipe without custom tuning?

On ours we still recommend custom tuning since the CEL my still be triggered. The flow is greater and the content of the high flow cats is different than the stock cats which is what triggers the CEL.

yotesmc 01-09-2014 03:31 PM

Is there anyway to use eliminators on the o2 sensors?
