That's when misfires being read was turned off. Trex had issues, so he put everyone on raptor and I think some guy blew his motor and the tune revisions came out again as a result.

So, no. Free tune revisons were only from widespread problems with tunes, otherwise, $$$

Attitude of the customer may be taken into account, LOL.

Very well could. You can feel free to go through my post history. I was very positive about SSI on these forums, as well as others.

I can post my entire email chain if anyone has any question about how professional I was with 2 years of various correspondence. The only time Shawn indicated that I was a 'bad customer' was when it became clear he was unwilling or unable to fix the lingering issues on his tunes, and I voiced my concern at spending another $75 over the previous $325 I had spent on tunes that were not even 90% right.

If I come across at having a bad attitude because of that, so be it.

I got tunes from other tuners but the SSI tunes are pretty impressive worth every penny.
Same here today for me. I got 2 Gen8's sent to me today and I asked how much I owed and he told me don't worry about it. I was amazed at his generosity and will stay as a customer. I have spent money but he has surpassed my expectations and really has improved his tunes. I know that for a fact.

Sorry you guys had a disagreement and could not work it out. You said you were very positive about SSI here before, and thats all I can be based on my experience too just like bdw132. I hope you enjoy your truck in the future, as I will do as well.

Thanks. I agree, you can only base your opinion on your experience. Shawn can definitely make a good tune for good portion of the people who use him. Just because he cannot, however and for whatever reason, tune some vehicles does not make those people 'bad customers' or 'retarded'.

I've put over $300 into tunes from SSI, and at the end of the day, I was left asking to spend more to get a tune that may or may not have worked. That's my only issue. It's an issue that's been successfully solved, with no further issues, from another tuner. Thanks to that, I am enjoying my truck now.

I may be a 'fanboy', but I'm laughing at you jerks in my rearview mirror.
I believe you are more than a "fan boy". Aren't you a moderator over on the SSI forum?

As far as charging for new versions, many that have dealt with him would disagree with your statement. Maybe as a moderator you received yours for free. Just sayin'.

Here's the routine I've watched multiple times.

Give free tunes to your club members, watch them now defend and fight for you time and time again because of that free tune(s).

Also just because you get a discount on a tune or a set your still being charged. Don't let that discount blind you from the big picture...hell I was even offered a discount to upgrade to the latest a third/fourth time...
"but you'll get all 3 tunes upgraded for $75, where else you going to get that"...
"But I still have the problem while tuned."
"$75 is a hell of a deal..."
Enough was enough. For those of you it has worked out for great, but again I feel like I've been cheated and lied to when I hear from the man himself 'no one else is having those problems, we'll work thru it' and then find out later all these others that have had the same problem and he asks for more $ multiple times. Some I've purposely kept quite on my issue just to make sure theirs matched mine, knowing there are haters and how the SSI threads turn out.

Again just my experience, in which I would caution anyone going to SSI for tunes. Use at your own risk and if you think handling important detailed information by a phone call is adequate then have at it. The last details are there because Shawn likes to deal over the phone, but do to that factor he missed important details on my files numerous times...wrong rear end, wrong strategy code, wrong email...Oh and he really doesn't like email so even if you send him the correct information via email it won't necessarily come back with the correct info...Just my experience.

I understand the email vs phone. I have had success at both, but also with a simple text usually for a request and a notification that I have sent a email. He has always responded to me when I do that and definitely on the phone. I left him a message today about a 93 tune while at work that we had talked about 2 days ago when he sent me the other 2 tunes and when I got home from a 12 hour shift, there it was setting in my inbox. He is very busy at times, but if you stay in touch in a reasonable time frame he will deliver. Like today I didn't expect it that fast and I had sent him a email yesterday. So my customer service experiences have exceeded my expectations honestly. I don't think these other tuners will take care of you in a day, not sure but also I have never had the wrong readings like gear ratio, etc. I am not saying anyone can not make a mistake, but also in the future you can always adjust the custom tune when downloading it to pick items like that. I know the x4 will do that and continue to do that on future custom tunes until you decide not too. A little insurance for anyone. But my last 3 tunes have been butter smooth on the shifting, the way I like them. Looks like you now have a Raptor too, Sweeet!

I have had a few interactions similar to yours but I have also spent over $500 between the initial tunes I bought, pd updates, and getting the shaft on the S&B Intake group buy... Now he won't return my email about updating my tunes to cure the cruise surge... Seem like way too much effort to be one of his customers, maybe I should fire him!

Is this the same Shawn guy that was blowing up mustangs back in the day?? I remember coming across that when researching " Tuners" when I first got my truck.

I have come full circle in the last couple years and am now looking at tuners again.

Update. As previously posted, overall I've been happy with my SSi tunes. First tune had fantastic power and throttle response with a nice 2 mpg overall increase in mileage but the throttle tip in was too abrupt for my taste and I did have the surging issue others have mentioned as well as a 'revving' momentarily when you put it into gear and took off. I contacted Shawn (by phone) and discussed it with him. He asked me to send him a detailed text of the issues and 2 days later I get the updated 'Gen 7' tune. No charge. The throttle tip in was perfect for my taste, the power was unchanged, the mileage was again great, the 'revving' was gone and the surge issue probably 85% improved. Only time it showed up was with the cruise on and going down a steep grade. Again discussed it with him in detail, sent the text as he requested and he sent me the newest 'Gen 8' tune tailored to my taste--again, no charge. Drove the truck 300 miles today over various terrain--up hill, down hill, open highway, heavy traffic, etc. Wow. Tune is spot on--perfect throttle response and tip in, 18+ mpg at 78 mph cruise (with tall tires), intoxicating power and NO SURGE. Those who have doubted Shawn really need to try this tune. I've driven 2 buddy's EB trucks with other vendor's tunes--no comparison in power, now that the drivability issues have all been fixed--SSi is the way to go.
