Default Direct Injection

First this is a long read. If you don't care for it don't download it. However if you ever wondered what Ford could do about the Deposits on a DI engine, then it might be a good read.

It's a Patent about keeping DI clean.

I'm not a Patent lawyer, or a chemist so I really can't sum it up for you, but if you download the PDF file you get a summary at the bottom of page 8.

It claims they have a method for reducing the intake valve deposits on a direct injection motor.

Looks like your oil might just help reduce deposits after all.

And unless you are a scientist, a very difficult read. I would have to see a layman's summary to get anything out of it at all.
Remember, the Ford owner's manual for the direct injection EcoBoost recommends the use of Top Tier fuels because of the higher detergent level as do the manufacturers of most direct injection engines.

If there are no Top Tier dealers near you, Chevron Techron FI cleaner is the same additive Chevron and some other brands use to meet the Top Tier standards.
