tech@full-race.com
does anyone else have problems getting a response from that email? Or know the response time?

Nevermind, they got back to me an hour after I posted lol

Do you make a solution for the eco boost overheating while towing problem that is fairly prevelant on steep grades in high temperatures? I've been dealing with this all summer and haven't found any answers.

You won't get much response here man. Try to find Full Race over at F150Ecoboost.net. I was actually just thinking about this thread this morning.

In response to your question, Full Race does make a full aluminum radiator that I hear is pretty ****.

Yes the radiator is an option. Its much larger than the stock unit.

That said, I have heard several people say it didnt stop the trucks from overheating. I think there is another issue which is that the electric fans limit air flow at highway speeds. You get the entire flow of the radiator and it has to pass through those two little fan openings. The fans themselves arnt moving enough air at highway speeds.

I would like to try eliminating the shroud an mounting two fans directly to the back of the radiator that way they can still move air through at low speeds but at high speeds nearly the entire radiator is unimpeded.

these are the four issues that we've seen cause overheating

-radiator
-oem trans cooler is very small
-oem intercooler outlet temps get up to 220F
-people pulling heavy trailers on 3.31 or 3.55 gears

the solution is a bigger radiator, bigger trans cooler (divorced from radiator) better intercooler and 3.73 or 4.10 gears

What's the deal with the "new" looking black radiators on the Full-Race website? Is this the same as the aluminum ones that seem to be more prevalent through other resellers? Are there differences I should know about before making a purchase? Application is a 2012 Ecoboost FX4

I also inquired on a few other sites about the installation of this radiator. In the instructions it states that no trimming is required if using a RAPTOR fan. Is the fan different compared to other "regular" models? If so, can a Raptor fan be installed on a non-Raptor truck? Also, the whole part about removing the surge tank was very confusing. Do I need to do this? What are the advantages/disadvantages of doing or not doing this?

Thanks!

So does the freak-o-boost radiator have the trans cooler built in like the factory unit? Are you suggesting to bypass the radiator portion of the trans cooling and plump it straight to a bigger trans cooler?

I've never had issues with my trans temp, only my ECT's and of course my IATs go nuts.

You are correct, our intercoolers and radiators are updated for 2018. we updated the core and endtank designs. The radiator now fits better and uses a custom core which requires no cutting to the stock fan. we also have a drop-in trans cooler upgrade for those who will tow

no need to change the fan and no need to touch the surge tank. the new radiator cores make this literally plug and play

yes our radiator has the trans cooler built in like factory F150. If you look at the new 17+ raptor and 18+ max tow, they bypass the radiator like you say. This also helps the radiator work less since it does not have to shed heat from ATF temp along with Engine coolant temps

With the radiator modifications to improve fit, I assume the performance has not changed?

Any plans to offer this as a package with the Trans cooler combined? By how much volume does the trans cooler increase the oil capacity? I'd love to see some data on it's effectiveness over stock if you have anything you're willing to share.

Dan, the new v2 radiator cores use a higher efficiency core and fin type. cooling performance improves a small amount. the trans cooler increases surface area by +140% - it is a cooling capacity increase moreso than oil capacity increase. Data shows trans temps even during towing to stay rock steady between 190-200F. the oem cooler can reach 210-220+
