Absolutely, encourage laziness and apparently the inability, or lack of willingness, to take the time to READ the hundreds of other related topics on this subject that generally digress to a pissing contest about which is better based solely on subjective opinions. Being you have 3 post and have contributed so much thus far, perhaps you should actually consider taking the time to read, and less time being the type of upstanding citizens that encourage lazy *** people from continuing the trend!! Seems pretty simple.

OBG, I think you will find that those who own a EB or 5.0 both equally love there truck and each will tell you why. If your worried about IC then go 5.0.
I got a MaxTow EB 6.5bed. If you need low end ummf then go with the best EB for towing (maxtow). But if your looking to tow 9k then you better consider going to a F250. Like the previous posts suggests there are countless threads to read that cover this topic to death.

You said you have pulled close to 9,000lbs before so I assume you will again. If you are going to pull it through the mountains I would suggest the EcoBoost. I have driven my 5.0l with a small (3,500lbs) trailer through N.C. and TN. and it boogied right along. I have also pulled +/- 7,000lbs through Missouri and Kansas and it wasn't phased by the rolling hills one bit. If I were pulling the 7,000lbs or more on a routine basis through E.TN I think the Eco would serve me better. When I was going from Boone N.C to Johnson City via 321 I was down between 30 and 40 hp. I still did fine with my trailer but I could notice the difference. The turbo won't suffer the power loss as bad plus the extra torque will help going up all those hills. I do have to admit that the 5.0l was sounding sweet as I cruised through the mountains.

Thank you all for helping my laziness. I went and test drove 3 FX4's today each with a different engine. All 3 seem pretty awesome. Still trying to find out any major problems with the 5.0's, which was my original question. Talked to the sales guy about it today and one of the techs and no surprise they have not had many problems out of any of the new engines. And to medic I am sorry about encouraging laziness or being lazy, I do not have the time or care to read hundreds of post with pissing contest in them about which one is better, when all I need to know is what major problems people are having with their 5.0's and EB's. I am perfectly capable of driving the trucks and seeing what one best suits my needs. Thanks once again for all the great comments.

I second the warranty part. I bought MaxTow EB and also concerned about the IC issue but figured getting the 7 yr ESP warranty would cover me if any issue arise. Its good your driving all the trucks with diff engines it will give you some idea how they drive but you wont find out how they tow until you hook something up and then see how the truck handles. Good luck with your search.

Owned it for about 9 years decided I wanted a Jeep Wrangler. Mistake,I never really knew how much I needed a pickup till I got rid of mine. Now I want to buy a new Ford and I am torn. I would love to have the EB but have read and heard so many horror stories about its problems. So I am leaning towards the 5.0. I live in E TN so I have plenty of hills and I do pull heavy loads occasionally. My real question is has anyone in this area experienced problems out of their EB and what kind of major problems have people had out of their 5.0's in general. Thanks for any advice/help.

I'm not going to get into any debate on which engine is better but I will say that that my 2012 has the 5.0 engine and after 18,000 miles, I have had no engine issues and for me, the 5.0 was and still is my favorite engine.

OP, most 5.0's consume an unusual amount of oil when they are new. You can look that up on the forums, multiple people have this issue. My mustang 5.0 also had this issue... both engines that were in it. Some people report no issue as well. Hit or miss. Or more likely driving habits.

I agree. My 13' FX4 5.0 was down 1 quart by 2,000 miles. I topped it off and when I changed the oil for the first time at 5,000 miles it was on the full mark before I drained it. My 12' Roush Stage 3 (which is the 5.0 with 2.3 Supercharger) oil level was full when I first changed the oil at 1,000 miles and again was full when I changed the oil at 3,000 miles. So, I agree, it is hit or miss but driving habits probably have a huge part to do with it.
