Holy cow I was reading the forum but didn't notice it was two years old! My apologies. As far as what happened, the compressor wheel separated on my turbo, taking out my cat in the process. Everything is now fixed, I am a happy camper, 100% coveted under warranty
If it wasn't warranty work it would have cost about $4500 parts and labor.

Just putting this here to share information. I use Amsoil signature series 5w-30. I change my oil per oil life monitor, which is around 10k. Did first Blackstone at 55k. I tow/haul a fair amount with about 25% city driving.
They were pretty impressed with my sample! The only remote red flag was a higher than normal iron content, but their average that they base that on is 5200k, this sample had a little over 10k! They recommended running the next one out to 12k!

[QUOTE=Ford850;2956069]That's for 1 turbo and cat? I know cats are expensive, but that seems steep.[/
According to dealership, turbos are $900 apiece. If your gunna change one might as well change two. It's a 10 hour job to change em, then they found a B.O. Cat, changed it too. I'm just repeating what the service manager told me

We just recently found out that the both of the turbos in our 2012 f-150 3.5L ecoboost have finally started to fail and will need replacement after 115,200 miles (not bad) since we no longer have a factory warrenty we are looking at $2,200 for the repair (that includes up to 8 hours of labor). All in all I would say that the ecoboost, despite the replacement of the turbos, in a pretty sound investment. Best damn vehicle I have ever owned!
Does anyone know what the out of pocket cost would be to repair or replace the twin turbos on the ecoboost?
I'm not sure if the 3.5 or the 5.0 is the right truck for me and the cost of that repair or replacement, once the warranty runs out, may be the deciding factor. I had someone tell me that turbos don't last long and are costly to replace (they probably don't know what they're talking about, but then again neither do I).

warranty coverage
Yes the turbos are covered under manufacturers warranty, drivetrain, and extended warranty.. they are an eccential part of the drive train.. as for price they are over all pretty cheap especially compared to a deisel turbo.. for example a 2010 dodge ram Cummins turbo costs around $6,000 to replace.. and that's a remanufactured turbo.. the ecoboost ar e around $600.. my dad has a 2.7l ecoboost and it is a great engine and wouldn't trade it for anything..
