I got the diagnostic thing to come up in my 2011 ecoboost screw fx4 and it honestly drive a lot better leaving the diagnostics on! No surging faster! Turbos were crazy loud felt like the day I bought it!

I dropped my truck off this morning for an oil change and the TSB update. The service writer frowned a bit when I told him I wanted the TSB performed, but after I had him open my file and showed him that the left side cat had already been replaced with a CEL,and also discussed the 6th gear surging under load, he got the message. I understand that Ford does not want to spend a ton of money on these updates, and that the dealership service department is the gate keeper, however the issues for this platform need to be addressed. I will post my results this evening.

Yes. Haven't tried to use it though.

Happy with the update. To early to tell if there's an mpg increase.

TSB update is done. Picked my truck up yesterday. no surging noted yet, but mine was only intermitant and not as bad as some here have described. The truck seems to be running better right now (even though it was -7F this morning....Frickin winter can stop anytime now!). I haven't put any real miles on it yet obviously but my instant mpg bar seems to be higher and my DTE was 100 more miles than when I dropped it off, man I hope that's true.
I didn't have any trouble with the service writer when asking for this TSB, I actually printed a copy, highlighted the symptom and handed it to him. He was completely good with doing it, said "Oh, this is just a down load to your PCM, no problem." I also had them update the TCM so my gear indicator would always be displayed in the productivity screen on the dash without having to push the +/- button. I expected a small charge for this request but as soon as the truck was done, service writer brought me my keys and said they would mail me a copy of the paperwork so i didn't have to sit around and wait for the tech to finish entering the work. so no charge at all and no hassle either.

Got the truck back and it behaves like everyone has been describing, smoother and more responsive in the engine department. The butt dyno says its stronger, but you know how that is. The service writer let me know that the trans would be act a bit strange while it was relearning my driving habits,as to be expected. Too early to know on mileage, but I have some highway and city driving tomorrow, so I will see what the computer tells me. After that I will be hand calculating again.

I've put just over 150 miles on the truck since having the TSB performed. I'm still very impressed with how smooth the truck runs. The 1-2 shift at WOT no longer falls flat; and, the truck is ALWAYS in the correct gear based on driving conditions.

Honestly, I think Ford should offer this to each effected F-150 Ecoboost owner upon their next service appointment. It's a very quick and simple fix to what used to be an intermittently annoying condition.

I had this TSB performed Monday 2/20 since my truck was in for oil change and a check up. I did have a very slight studder at 55mph. I could just as easily avoided it since I knew where the sweet spot is to create it.

Here's my observations since having it done.

no change in mpgs.

Downs shifts quicker to a lower gear. Now a small gas pedal change will down shift it properly.

Downshifts too far sometimes. If I go to WOT at 40 mph in 6th gear it will drop down as far as 2nd gear and close to 5500 rpms. At around 80 percent throttle with the same 40 mph to goes down to a more manageable 3rd gear.

I can't really get it to studder now since the sweet spot where it happened it now downshifts.

Overall I'm please with the results but I was never too concerned since I could avoid the problem with much thought.
