Default Cold Air Intake EB

Just looking for the forums opinion on cold air intakes for EB engines. What do you have? Which is preferred? Is there a difference in oiled filters vs. dry filters like the AFE stage 2 kits?

The stock air box is CAI, but many advertised as such pull hot air from the engine compartment reducing much potential advantage. The stock air box is the same used for the 6.2 so it pulls plenty of air.
But to answer your question, S&B has just come out with one for the EB that uses the stock box bottom, comes with a larger air snorkel, and is completely sealed. The quality is excellent. The S&B conical filter can be ordered either in reusable oil, or in a paper replaceable. It sells for $299 which is less than some of the others.

For a Limited I wouldn't. If you do put an intake on your EB you'll have to tune it to make it run right. And don't buy an oiled filter.

Why would you have to tune with and intake?

Reset the ECU and get a higher octane fill and let it learn your motor/trans again. If you have lots of Body Module settings plug in a 9 volt into the cig lighter. They are about $7 and all your personal settings will be saved.

Copy and paste from another thread like this: I got the volant when they first came out and out a review on here somewhere about it. I love everything about it and bought it 1 because the powercore filter is awesome, filters well and flows very well 2 because the air box design doesn't suck in hot under hood air like EVERY other CAI for this truck.
I'd say turbo noise increased slightly but not as much as getting a tune and it may have helped spool up and power along with economy if driven right just enough to be noticeable I think.
Never dyno'd it though, sorry

Volant hasn't updated for the 2012-2014 EB though with MAP sensor. They only work on 2011 EB at the moment.

Why do you want one. You won't notice an appreciable fuel economy gain, if any. Oiled filter is fine as long as you maintenance it proper. If you want it for performance you should pair it with a tune to realize the potential gains (how much on the eb I'm not sure).

I personally have a full custom intake with larger, well, everything. The stock MAF will max out about 600hp so you should be good with the stock size.

Cold air intake doesn't do any good on an Ecoboost. The intake air gets heated by compression in the turbos, that's why you have an intercooler. The stock filter system flows more cfm than the engine needs. Save your money and buy a tuner.
