Cobra Jet intake on 5.0L truck
Saw this at NMRA race in Bradenton FL and thinking about getting it for my new to me 2012 5.0L truck
Dyno shows 297 RWHP stock and 356 RWHP after cobra jet intake , cobra jet throttlebody , custom 5 inch CAI and American Racing headers into single 3inch magnaflow exhaust and BG racing has a tune developed with this combination that works really well drives like stock till you nail on it.
They even too me out for a spin and it was shifting at 7000-7100 RPMS and was running 13.50s in the quarter at 103+ MPH and they are saying with mustang GT cams and more tuning and opening up the exhaust more they are striving to hit 400 RWHP before adding a procharger in the near future.
I will say the cobra jet intake just makes under the hood just look bad ***
What is everyones take on this?

They have used the boss intake but not the CJ intake here. You really need to rev the **** out of the engine to make it worth it.
I'd like to see the dyno graph of that. I'm willing to bet the biggest bolt on gain was from the headers.
With the Mustang cams and the CJ intake I'd expect to see some loss of low end torque but even more gain in the top end. If they rev to 8k rpm they might hit their goal.

They just posted up graphs on facebook so I figured I would share
Bone stock#s were 297 RWHP 328 RWTQ
First was headers Y pipe into single 3 inch exhaust and cobra jet intake and TB and tuning netted 356 RWHP 341 RWTQ
After just switching to true duals
376 RWHP 361 RWTQ
After putting in Boss mustang cams and valve springs
408 RWHP 362 RWTQ right at 7K
This thing should be in the 12s in the quarter still NA

They used the GT cams or BOSS 302 cams? I ask because I was told that you need to clearance the heads for them to fit.
Boss5.0 (a member who used to come here) I believe did a 12.6 N/A in is RCSB.

Yes picked up 20 from going from single 3 to dual 3 inch exhaust , and they were actually GT intake cams and BOSS exhaust cams and Boss valve springs that were all donated to the build

here are photos of the truck and set up with and before pro charger, i have been talking to Brad from BG racing and is a stand up dude and i will be doing an n/a cobra jet set up with him for my truck, i will be selling my boss 302 intake manifold and intake set up for anyone interested, and he did both intake and exhaust side cams with boss cams and he said the only thing had to do was add boss valve springs and he did not modify heads for anykind of clearences
