Mine had the start up noise long before this happened can't say they are related but they could be. Ford found prices of a piston skirt in the oil pan. I had to pull my truck from FAIR OAKS FORD since they are complete dumb f*cks (thanks to the worst mechanic MARK FISCHER) and brought it to ROD BAKER FORD. Who is taking care of me very nicely and is replacing my motor.

So whats the back story?
I would be cautious calling out individual people. People are sue happy these days.

Really interested in an understanding of what happened and the specifics surrounding the failure... I have an '11 as well.
What do you mean by the start up noise? There are multiple "noises" that are discussed on here.

Must be IL. I live right by Fair Oaks Ford and will never go there again. My last experience for some warranty work was comical at best. The techs are incompetent and the service writers are a complete joke. I've heard good things about Rod Baker Ford. Best of luck getting things back together. I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly.

Iv been trying to find a good dealer. The one I got my truck from blows. Right now I'm having good luck at Joe Riza Ford but last trip they pointed out my full-race intercooler and said it'll void my warranty. Good luck with the motor issue.

Seems to be more and more with the startup noise ending up with a broken piston skirt. May not be the timing chain at all. Interesting, glad they are replacing the motor.
