Can't Clear CEL 2012 SCrew EB
Have had the EB stumble/loss of power from whence the truck was new. (Now have 79k miles on her.) Had all the TSB's done & still no improvement. I'm usually pretty careful to avoid triggering the CEL by being careful with my right foot & also downshifting when needed.
Unfortunately, was trying to pass another vehicle on a 2-lane road yesterday & got the stumble something awful & before I could downshift, the CEL started blinking. Now it's constantly on. (Was raining a little at the time so I'm sure the moisture in the air didn't help things.)
Went to local O'Reilly's to pull the codes & was told it was "Misfire cyl's # 3 & 5". Which is what I've had in the past.
Disconnected the neg term on the battery for >4 hrs & the CEL still won't go away. Therefore, on start-up, the ECU is detecting something amiss. However, it drives fine & the stumble is no worse than usual. (Even slightly better now that it's cold without much moisture in the air.)
I went to my local dealership to ask them to clear the CEL for me & I'd be willing to pay for it. But the service guy stated they couldn't do that, "bc we'd have to figure out why the CEL came on in the first place & then fix what caused it." I told him Ford doesn't even know what's causing this issue so there was no way the dealership would know. I thanked him & left.
I've searched the forum & can't figure it out. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can clear the CEL? TIA.

Something is wrong with your motor.
Have you changed the plugs? Boots? Drilled the weep hole?

Thanks fellas.
I got the plugs, boots & 2 of the coils changed (the ones that were misfiring). Still stumbles like it always has at ~55mph in 5th/6th gears but the CEL is gone.
I'll research drilling the weep hole.

Yes. The weep hole really is a thing! Believe you me, I was doubtful as well but figured I had nothing to lose at this point as the truck is well out of warranty. It was either try the weep hole or get a new truck.
The CEL was gone after all the plugs & boots were replaced & the coils on #3 & #5 were replaced.
But the stumble didn't go away until AFTER the weep hole was drilled.
Now I'm just waiting for some wet weather to see if the stumble is gone even then. Normally, when it rained, the stumble was worse than usual.
Hoping it does NOT come back!

Rainy & cold yesterday & today. Did not experience any stumble at all running errands around town. The MPG has not improved, though. But I couldn't care less about that as I don't have a stumble anymore & I can pound the happy pedal all I want!
This is so awesome!
