No need for mythbusters, I'm rarely impressed with the execution of their experiments anyway...although I'll admit they have improved since they started and most of their stuff now is actually halfway real-world scenarios and not just some half thought-up crap.

Cat-back exhaust systems, some air intakes, and intake air temp sensor spoofs are more along the lines of fancy power cables. No change in performance unless you're pushing enough power to outflow the pipe or more amps than a given cable would be rated. A tune is more in line with adjusting all the settings on the stereo so the bass, mids, and highs are crisp and proportionately awesome. You're not really adding anything extra, just taking full advantage of what's already there. Countless people have done it. I personally didn't do any of mine solely for the MPG gain. I did it for better/faster throttle response when merging/passing and better/smarter/firmer shifting. As long as you have a smooth right foot you will get fuel mileage gains with most tuners, however if you're not smooth then that faster throttle and transmission shifting response will screw you in the MPG dept. I take it you must've never driven a vehicle with a good/smart aftermarket tune vs a stock one otherwise you'd know it's about as far from nonsense as you can be. Also keep in mind that a vehicle can have all the power and MPG in the world but if it's "too noisy" some people won't have anything to do with it...guess what? that means putting resonance chambers in the intake tubing that potentially rob performance. Some people only like a tranny that shifts as smooth as a baby's butt, guess what? that means it's going to slip more and also hinder performance or it's going to upshift even sooner to keep the volume down...bottom line there's a lot more to it than just getting performance and MPG...you gotta make it attractive to everyone so it'll sell...

Lot of people can't realize how resistant to change people are. The Hall effect devices, the super sensitivity. The minute changes that occur in the fuel system hundreds of time per second, even on cold warm ups. The technology changes Bosch has added to the fuel injection and camshaft technology. Most believe exhaust mods will be the best addition, probably turbo exhaust size changes, but the basic programming from ford, looks at the perameters comming from the sensors and adjusts. A whole lot of expensive gifts need to be added to increase what is already fine if Ford fine lines it out. Some of the Turbo lag will just be there. The Bully Dogs are beginning to pi__ of customers as we speak. Sct uses the IPOD to show you a picture thats available at the OBI plug thats full of a Blu tooth. Maybe it won't wreck pieces off of your piston. I listened to some drags and was sure to hear pre ignition sounds. ka nick ka nack ka bing ka bing- roar- like the pure stockers best. Anyway 97% of the 11 ta 12 EB's probably won't be running in 2026. Just my take on another EDSEL. The hard river water people will put in them will kill em with corrosion. If you don't agree, I don't care. Blown anybody for low RPM's torque/ instant response.

I type lol alot online, in texts, and in forums, mostly because I am good natured and like to laugh. Rarely do my "lol"'s actually mean I literally "laughed out loud" to myself, because that's is just kind of silly. Maybe a snicker at most, Papa Tiger's post actually made me "Laugh out Loud" literally lol and I'm still laughing. Not sure if you meant that to be funny, and I'm sure you had a point to prove in there, but the way it came out was just too dang funny. Good times.

I have had the same experience with my 08 f150. It's the 5.4 4x4 and I've had the bullydog gt on it for about a year (roughly 10,000 miles). No noticeable improvement in mpg and throttle response is slower with the programming installed than without. I've been using the 87 octane program and today I returned to stock settings. Felt an immediate improvement in acceleration and in the upshift through the gears. I also felt like the bullydog was causing the trans. to upshift too soon. I think I will uninstall it and sell it and try my luck with another programmer.
