Debating between which engine
Hi folks, I'm currently looking at a f-150 reg cab long box. But my dilemma is which engine to choose 3.7 or the 5.0, I plan on pulling a snowmobile trailer. and i also want to add mods like exhaust, intake, and a tuner. I want to see what you guys think which one I should choose.

I think the EB has been offered in cars and the flex for 18 months or so with very few issues. How much is a RCLB XL EB? I know I was surprised to find about $7k in discounts and rebates when I bought my truck. I was actually planning on waiting a while til I got the OTD price.

Turbo motors have a long history of easy hp with few mods. EB's with just a tune are picking up a minimum of 30 rwhp. Turbo motors also generally respond better to exhaust and intake mods. It is very likely that the EB will gain 50 - 70 rwhp without going into the motor or turbo's. They will be making 400 rwhp soon, while only gaining low-end torque. How does 500 ft-lb at 2500 rpm sound? And since when are people "blowing up your turbos"? Turbochargers are extremely reliable even when pushed hard.
The 5.0 on the other hand is already a little weak on low-end and making well over 1 hp/ci, meaning additional power won't be easy to come by. So you can add some Mustang parts and gain up to 45 hp, but be prepared to lose even more of that beloved truck low-end torque (have you driven a 5.0 Mustang?) plus have to go well into the engine to do it and spend a lot of money.

If you have 26k plus money for mods, skip the mods and buy the ecoboost. It doesn't need any and its a better engine. It's faster, pulls better and good torque

Between the two mentioned I would go with the V8. You wont loose to much in the way of MPG and be better off down the road with resale. I would also look at the EB if thats in the budget, but still would be a toss up between the EB and 5.0 for me. The only engine I didnt test drive before my purchase was the 3.7, though Im sure its a good engine, I dont believe I would want one at trade in time. These are your service/delivery truck options that wont bring much at trade in time.... Plus the added performance will out weigh the little loss at the pump. I'll take the throaty V8 rumble vs the whoosh or purr anyday.
