Blown Ecoboost Motors and Tuned or not?
#21
I'm betting on the 2.7l family growth due to the block design strength. 7 blown with 2800 active forum members today does seem to be an active lil sucker ! I'm looking hard at a 2.7 l next. I question the heated air charge OEM moisture fix since 13's are already breaking equal to previous years.

Interesting poll.
IMHO the Ecoboost is already tuned for close to max from the factory. If you look at Ford's patents and such on it, there is a LOT of monitoring and software controls wrapped around the Ecoboost. Lots. I think it's running near the edge but with a small cushion for "whoops'ees" in the software.
Tune it and it can and does go south in a hurry, especially if you do something stupid like run a super tune on regular gas. It's not like engines of old where there is a lot of cushion in the performance of the engine.
But it is an interesting poll.
I say just keep her stock and enjoy the ride. If you want to tinker, be prepared to pony up lots of $$$. But don't blame Ford when it blows up after tinkering.

Without a major fuel system change , your shooting into a dark well is probable

Poll results don't compute. 7 votes by year, 9 by tuned or not.

10 have popped out of possibly 300 forum members talking about their 3.5L. EB. Seems a good number and percentage to me. 3.33333333% blow for unknown causes right now. U can throw a nickel away for every dollar you earn. It is a decent comparison.
I recommend to myself a higher octane fuel right now as a possible push down of that numbers to something like 1 in 20,000 members talking about their 3.5L EB.

Just an observation. I think you mean for people to select both the year of their truck AND whether or not they are tuned.
As of my post here, you have "Tuned" + "Non-tuned" = 10, but the sum of the model years = 8.
Anyway, interesting poll, and very interesting results, even with n=10. Thanks for putting it up.

Yes, you can select multiple choices, I was hoping people would see the two independent questions and pick a year and whether they were tuned or not.
BUT, as of now, with the spread over all the years, I am not so concerned about the years anymore, it seems everyone is at the same risk regardless of the year.
You could also draw the same conclusion with being tuned or not. You could also say tuning you are more likely to fail.

this poll is largely irrelevant and you can't draw any real conclusion from it.

Its what I was trying to illustrate, we have to be careful drawing much.
