Default Black soot in tailpipe of 2015 Ford Expedition evoboost engine

I have had the vehicle into the shop they had it for 1 week and told me they couldn't find anything. They didn't say this is normal. Is it normal? I love my vehicle and don't want to trade but don't want to breakdown either. Anyone have answers please

Directed injected motors do produce soot to some extent. Its not like a diesel but I have been following my wife while she drives my truck and occasionally see a small puff.

If you are driving down the road and there is a visible trail of soot then that would be an issue.

Arrow

Normal and WAD (Working As Designed).

At startup the PCM automagically increases fuel mixture/ratio until the predetermined warm-up temp' is achieved. *In the old days this amounted to choking the carb'.
