Is it really worth the extra money???......or would Mobil 1 or another synthetic from Pennzoil...QS....or other name brands work just fine...I've used MC synblend in the past with no problems... just thought I'd try full syn this time around

Mobil 1 is great ! Don't even worry about the Amsoil if it's not convenient. I don't use Amsoil in the cars/truck because I change their oil more frequently and it IS expensive.

I only do a "yearly" on the motorcycle so I can afford the Amsoil for that.

I use either Mobil 1 or Pennzoil platinum synthetic. It's worth a few extra bucks for the piece of mind IMO.

My friend works at a Ford as one of their top mechanics. On the engines with the oil-controlled cam timing he recommends sticking pretty close to the factory oil change interval, whether running syn blend or full synthetic. He thinks running something like Amsoil with 20k-25k intervals isn't a good idea. It's an opinion, and I definately agree with him. You might save a few bucks by stretching you oil change interval out that far, but I don't think it's worth risking your engine...

Hey I know exactly what you mean. I went through many, many different brands and synthetics/regular. Most of the time it ended up being whatever they had a deal on at autozone, but either way oil has come such a long way and it ran like a dream no matter what I ended up using (except for leaks, which was always) for it's 110k miles until I sold it.
