in my hunt for proper metal ball studs, i found that lift supports use them (as in a canopy lid shock), and in small electronics such as RC cars.
amazon and ebay turned up an immediate cheap option, however im uncertain if thats the ball size or thread length

i ended up buying lift strut ball studs off amazon. an f150 owner left a review that these work for the coil covers, so it became a no brainer
edit:
installed coil covers yesterday. straight forward and super simple. i tried to use a m6 tap initially but it worked better to apply pressure on the bull stud while tightening it. eventually it will make its own threads.
