Concerning engine calibration updates - are they cumulative? say I take my truck in for TSB 14-0017 (misfire CAC issue) and then 2 weeks later I go in for TSB 14-0014 (fuel in oil).
Would I just go backwards in engine calibrations, or would it tell the tech 'hey newer calibration already installed'? Or is it just best to ask for resolution of them in sequential order?

i got mine updated at my dealer yesterday. charged 95$ but they reallly needed to know why i needed it done and made me sign a paper saying they couldn't guarantee it would fix anything. I told them my tuner needed it to have the latest pcm update to tune off of. I'm not under warranty though. Probably wouldn't want to tell them that if you were.
according to stage 3 my pcm had the original strategy that the 2011s shipped with so it was really old but it drives a good bit better now.

Thanks for the offer, wish you were closer I am in the Kansas City metro. Thanks to everyone else for the ideas, I plan to take the truck in sometime over the next couple of weeks so we will see what they say.

I have a question when the dealer re-flashes your PCM will it read a different Strategy code number when you get it back. The reason I ask is that I just recently went to the dealer and had them activate my brake control module I just installed and they told me that they would update the PCM as well. After I got the truck back the brake controller worked but when I plugged my SCT in and checked the Strategy code it still showed the same code as before I took it in....any thoughts..

Wait. If the strategy code didn't change, why would he need to update SCT for the same strategy? Or, are you saying his SCT device's firmware needs to be updated in order to read the latest strategy assuming the dealer actually did the update.

Strategy Updates usually means an update to a completely new strategy code.I dont think I have ever seen it stay the same.
If the strategy did not change(IE Dealer did nothing) then no need to update SCT.

The strategy codes does usually change when the dealer does an update. So the SCT needs to usually be updated for the newer strategies. Sometimes requires a call to SCT depending on how new the strategy is.

Ok let me get this straight.....after I took it to the dealer and they supposedly updated my strategy code and then after I get the truck home and plug in the SCT to read what my new Strategy code is.......and...on the SCT it still showed the same Strategy code as before.....that means I need to update my SCT before it can read the new Strategy code?????
I thought that you just needed to plug the SCT device in to read the Strategy code on the vehicle. I know that if a tune is written for a specific Strategy code and you change Strategy codes you must also update the tune as well.
I guess what is confusing me is that after plugging the SCT device in and checking vehicle info, looking specifically for the Strategy code it stills shows the same, which leads me to believe that Ford did not update the Strategy code, which brings up another question, can Ford update the PCM without updating the Strategy code???
Sorry for being long winded
