As gas prices move forward and technology comes along at rapid pace, Ford, at best, is stagnant when it comes to fuel economy improvement. In today's tech world, stagnant=pathetic.

The ecoboost can only be seen as a failure for this reason. It does not live up to Ford's goal of creating a more fuel efficient truck. For people who do real work, it's actually less efficient than the out going engine. Pretty pathetic stuff from Ford.
You couldn't be more misinformed. My EB works exactly as advertised and has been much better than any of my previous V8's.

Direct injected turbo engines are becoming more and more common place, companies like BMW, Ferrari, Infiniti, and more have been using the tech as well.....because it works and is an improvement.

Miss while accelerating. 18 days without it now. Ford tells dealer there is a problem but no fix and that I should drive it. Dealer and I both agree that it is dangerous. Working with BBB Auto Line currently to attempt to resolve. I wonder how many people are just driving with problems with hopes of a fix that may never come.
Love the truck but not the problems. I expected more.
4 times? Sounds like a lemon suit.

That's what i'm working on now.
Dealer is behind me so I might have a chance.
I would rather have my truck work properly but ford says no fix available at this time. ????

Default EcoBoost or 5.0?

i have a 2011 3.5 Ecoboost with now abit over 1500 miles on it. So far has been awesome, & enjoy it everyday. no problems to report as of yet, my fuel milage has been spot on as of all the advertisements. my main problem i have with this question is that many people say they are afraid to get an ecoboost cuz its new technology, & that they want the tried & true 5.0, issue is, that the new 5.0 coyote engine is "NEW", its not the old engine they are thinking of. Also the OLD 5.0 was really a 4.9, i know there are many out there that will dispute this but it was a 4.9 liter engine. also as for the fear of oil cooking in the turbos cuz you didnt let it cool down by letting your engine run for like 10mins after you stop, thats not an issue with the ecoboost. when shut down, it goes into water cooling mode which cycles water through the turbos until they are cooled down. end result for me is, what many here have said, go with what you like, i drove a 5.0 and the Ecoboost, both where impressive, but in the end i felt the EcoBoost was where it was at, & have been happy since purchase, & nothing is perfect, hope i dont have a problem but if i do, thats why i accepted a 6yr/100k mile bumper to bumper warranty.
Happy motoring to you all out there!

P.S. i purchased my F150 EcoBoost XLT SuperCab in Feb 2012, it was built on 8 Sept 2011, had 24 miles on it when i bought it this year, and yes it was a brand new truck, guess white isnt that popular color LOL.

Same here...

Gets great gas mileage if you consider how much power this truck makes... Loving it.

I am having the exact same problem. The problem with this site is that you get people chiming in saying they are not experiencing problems. Good for them, but that does not solve our problem. I wish they would find a chat room or face book or something. Mine was back and forth to the dealer in Appleton four times. I am now trying another dealer in Antigo with hopes they can correct the problem. It is a safety issue, no doubt. I'm at 8,000 miles now and it is actually getting worse.

And, at 4,951cc, the 'new' coyote engine isn't 5 liters either.

Yea but "Coyote 4.951L" just doesn't have the same ring.

The problem with 'most' brand sites is that you mostly read about complaints. Consequently, someone contemplating buying that brand/model see nothing but complaints and base part of their buying decision on that.
