Nothing is bulletproof. The 5.0 isn't a mythical motor. Some will live some will die.

You get the point. Don't need to be a smartass. Anything mechanical can and will fail. Simply saying its a good motor with a good design.

You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to tunes. Especially with what is at stake, the worst thing one can do is go with some cheap tune that does nothing but advance spark timing and raise line pressure only.

My 5.0 was replaced back June. I had a bad cylinder #7. After fighting with Ford for about 3 months they finally replaced the engine.

Thank you. You're the first confirmed F150 that I know of.

Don't know if it was this cyl 8 issue or not but there was a report on here a while back about one seizing up. Last fall maybe?

Edit: it was March of this year

I had a check engine light come on with about 3000ish miles. Misfire in the #7 cylinder. Dealership cleared the code. Next they changed the plugs. Then they reflashed. Next they changed the injecters. Finally they borescoped the cyclinder and found the cylinder full of antifreeze. The cylinder walls were all tore up. All in all it took about 3 - 4 months before they changed the engine out. Ford customer service sucks. But I did end up with a new full engine swap. No issues over the last 2000 miles
