I'd have to agree, huge difference when tuned. I tend to run 93 performance from MPT and its amazing compared to stock. Favorite feature is the tow-haul button switches the shifting to an economy mode. This changes the shifting so that it tends to shift before 2k rpms. Next I want to try an E85 tune from MPT if I can get some spare cash and I'll do a review.

He told me the same thing really when I asked about tuning my roush blown truck. Not that he wouldnt...but he hasnt done many and is so picky he would really like to have it in hand to make it perfect. He has a lot going on with the mustang crowed as well. He told me if I really wanted he would but there was others that probably would be better options for me. Nice stand up guy...would rather that then him saying oh yea sure and giving me some crap tune then blow me off when it wasnt right.

That's how I felt after talking to him and have great respect for him being honest.

I had read a lot about him on the SVTP Mustang forums and a couple of great reviews from guys on this forum so I thought I would give him a shot. After my phone call I thought that I should post my conversation in case others were thinking of using him for their 5.0 (I know he has an ecoboost of his own to test with). There is no use in calling him if he says they are not marketing tunes for the 5.0 truck. It was just a heads up not a bash against him.

On an additional note, I don't get into tuner bashing. I lived that in the early years of the Gen2 Lightning on f150online and NLOC and it was brutal. Nothing I've seen here is even remotely close which is a good thing.

AEDsounds like a great shop. They won’t do canned tunes because they don’t havethe R&D they think they should have into them. That is the responsiblething to do. The same can’t be said for everyone out there peddling a tune.

AdditionallyI have a 2012 5.0 Mustang that had a tune which was done on the dyno, then atune, exhaust and CAI done on the dyno (my tuner is one of the best, period).Anyone who says that their 5.0 is “a whole different world”, “a completelydifferent car”, etc is delusional. Yeah a tune peps things up a bit, but it isnot much faster.

If I hada F-150 with a 5.0 I wouldn’t even bother with a tune. Especially if it means Ihad to spend the extra money on premium. It’s just not worth it.

I would say an additional 40 or so whp is a big jump for most people. But if you're use to driving a 900+ whp car, than yeah it shouldnt feel like much. Besides nitrous and FI, I would say a tune the most effective power adder by far.

My truck picked up 6/10's and almost 3 mph on my G-tech with a 5 star 91 tune, Id say that was fairly substantial.

On a side note, I run the stock tune, as the drivabilty is much better (for me) than any tune that I have tried (5star, MPT). For the life of me, I cannot figure out why tuners adjust the low speed throttle values (other than placebo effect) to open the throttle SOO much with so little pedal movement..........

He said the only real gains were with the Ecoboost. Well, I guess so since you can turn the boost up via the tune. I had an 87 Grand National so I know all about it and then some.

The main reason I wanted a tune was to correct my speedometer after going to 20" wheels and tires. I didn't bother to mention that since he all but told me no. I wasn't going to beg him sell me a tune so I will have to look elsewhere.

Shaun seemed like a nice guy but had no interest in tuning a 5.0.
give Brenspeed.com a call. i am just north of you.
