I also pull a fairly heavy boat and sometimes I forget its back there. I also hit a very steep grade on the haul to the lake. It pulls like my 2010 F-250 Diesel I traded. Plus, diesel is getting more and more expensive. Having owned both, I am happy with saving gas and money and having similar results driving a gasser.

I have no experience with the 6.2L, but the dealer convinced me to go with the Ecoboost over the 6.2 for towing.
Wait, now we are saying the eco pulls a load like the mighty 6.4 powerstroke? Now it's official, you eco guys are really drinking the coolaid. The eco is a great engine, but please....

Ha! Very deceptive watching the video, it looks like they were going downhill. I kept thinking, big deal, who can't tow downhill, lol.

I still think the lines are being blurred. The F150 6.2 isn't the same as an F250 6.2. Guys keep talking about the 250 6.2 but this is an F150 comparison. An F150 6.2 would have had an entirely different performance, more power/torque and almost 1,500lbs lighter than the F350.

Uhh, yeh, considering I have owned both and the diesel had less HP but more torque, the results were similar. Do you own a 6.4l diesel? I did and the only thing I miss about it was the heavy duty suspension which was far more superior than my F150's. The F250 drank diesel at 4.00 dollars a gallon which I could not justify. Don't get me wrong, the 6.4 is a great motor and one that could me modded out to out pull any truck on the road, but as far as money saved at the pump you cant go wrong with the Ecoboost. It pulls my boat on the same steep grade my Diesel did and I can hardly tell the difference.

Guys act like the newer diesel numbers are the same numbers earlier diesels were putting down... Older diesels could tow but times have changed. A newer 1/2 ton can probably tow better than a 10 year old super duty. (suspension obviously will make a huge difference)

Another thing to consider is engine braking in T/H mode. From what I've read there is next to no engine braking from the Eco. The 6.2 engine brakes very well.

Not true. I have the tow package on my 13 F150 Eco and it has engine braking. When I was going down some steep hills in Missouri it kicked in many times. I kinda got annoying.

It does have engine braking but it is a relatively low compression motor and does not provide very much engine braking at all.

The Eco has 10:1 the 6.2 has 9.8, but i'm sure the 6.2 being a bigger displacement engine has a lot to do with it.

I thought in his post he meant that the Eco didnt have the engine breaking option at all, but I see he just meant it isnt that good.

My bad, I knew it had the same features just that the amount of breaking (in comparison) is pretty weak. Not for one engine or the other, just something else for the OP to take into account.
