6.2L mpg
Hey everyone...i am looking to get a Lariat with the 6.2. I was hoping a few of you could relay back to me what "real" gas mileage you are seeing with the 6.2. Please be honest and give me a realistic number. Also, I heard that depending on what state you are in, you may get worse numbers because in California, where I am at, they add a bunch more crap in the gas to make it burn cleaner. If any of you are in California (if this is true) please let me know so again I can get a good idea of what my actual mpg will be.
thanks in advance

cool...this is helpful. I am upgrading from a 2000 Dakota that gets about 14mph with a 3.92 axle and the 4.7. I was hoping that this would be in the same area around 13-14 mpg.....so it is., If it was 10-11, I would be second guessing this decision.
thanks...hopefully I get a few more replies too.
I take it you guys like the 6.2 and no regrets???? I need one to tow my boat to Tahoe from the Bay Area....the boat is only 5000lb or so, but my Dakota has been ******* it the last few years. The Dakota was a hell of a truck and has 150k+ miles on it with no issues, but I need an upgrade. I am sure the 5.0 or EB would do this task fine, but I figure if I am dropping $40k+ on a truck, the F___ it.....I am getting the 6.2 and hopefully this thing will last me 20 years and I will never have to 2nd guess my decision and wish I didnt get the bigger motor.
The Harley and the Limited are sweet looking rides. I think I may just do the Lariat because I think it has the ability to tow more....and if I ever get a bigger boat, I will be all set.
My only complaint so far with the Lariat....is the wood trim inside looks like crap. I saw one today for the first time in person (really only saw pictures) and it wasnt as bad as I thought, but still....I hate faux wood. I dont like dark faux wood. If the FX4 came with the 6.2, I would jump on it, but not this year. I guess my bid dilemna now is to get the 2011 or wait to 2012 and hope they offer the 6.2 in the FX4 and to see if they may possible change that wood trim. I am sure they will as everyone is saying it looks cheap for the most part. I also do like the FX4 with the less chrome appearance on the bumper.....but honestly, I could go either way on that.

Good luck with your decision!

If your going to be going though mountains I would consider the EB because with the turbo you won't lose the hp or tq that you'll loose with a regular gas truck. It will probably do a better job for you in the mountains.

I drove the EB lariat 4x4 the other day. Felt just as quick and powerful with better mileage. Averaging over 15 mpg while being beat on across the county. Then you could get the fx4

AWD Harley 6.2L
I average around 14.1, mixed driving. Live in Colorado, 2266 miles.
This weekend we took a 4 day trip to Steamboat. Had to run the truck a few times to melt some snow/ice off the windows.
All told, I made it from home (Colorado Springs) to Steamboat, around town in Steamboat, and back, with 4 snowboards on my topper mounted rack, my family of 4, and my 2 golden retrievers, plus all our crap, IN ONE TANK OF GAS!
533.6 miles on ONE TANK with the 6.2L, averaging 15.4 for the whole trip. This includes a few mountain passes, as well as the Eisenhower Tunnel.
