6.2 out gunned
I honestly think that 6.2 won't be around for very long. It's a great engine but it just can't compete with the ecoboost stuff.
The 3.5 in my truck gets 104.3 hp per liter and the 6.2 gets 66.3 hp per liter. The torque comparison is just embarrassing
3.5 = 120 trq/liter
6.2 = 70.2 trq/liter
Plus that thing weighs a ton! I can see I a few years put the EcoBoost on a small v8. (5.0 EcoLightning?) Direct injection and turbos 15 years ago was unheard of technology for a truck. It was a huge V8 or nothing. I have been 100% anti ford for the past decade but my uncle (a ford salesman for close to 20 years) finally talked me I to test driving the new EcoBoost. 4 hrs later I drove off the lot with a new platinum EcoBoost. Besides the outside being kind of ugly (just my opinion) this truck is miles ahead of the tundras I have been buying (chevy and dodge are total crap).
The only way I see ford saving that 6.2 is if they upgrade it in every way. 4 valve instead of 2 valve, direct injection, and turbos. If they turned it into an EcoBoost they could EASILY put out 600hp and 750tq. That thing would be an absolute BEAST! And the fuel mileage would stay close to what it already is and maybe get a little better.
Just my 2 cents.

There is no doubt the ecoboost engines are the future. If they were an option in my truck I would have gotten one. That said I do love the 6.2 with the 5 star tune.....gas mileage is sh#t but I knew that when I bought it.

Yes it is apples and oranges but it's also engine technology and efficiency. Today's manufactures can easily make 100 horsepower per liter out of N/A engines. I personally love the fact that I have a little motor that can. I converted from a 4.0L Toyota Tacoma with a ridiculously low 236 HP to the ecoboost.

I'll trade you trucks! Imagine 6.2 liters and twins, it'd have to have AWD to stay on the road. I couldn't even find a 6.2L in a 6.5' bed or I'd have one. The EB was the next best option as far as power, but I'd never say it's half the potential of a 6.2L.
