5w20 in ecoboost?
Just got my oil change yesterday in my 2012 EcoBoost. The dealer used 5w20, is that okay? I've searched the forums and find conflicting answers. The dealer told me they input the VIN and that determines what type of oil to use. Am I okay?

I have a 2011 and manual and oil fill cap say to use 5w-30. Double check with dealer, when I first had mine changed receipt showed 5-20--but computer would not show 5-30 when printing out work sheet.

problem solved, it is 5w30! Getting it swapped out today. Kind of mad considering I even asked the service writer and he "verified" it. Thanks for the help. PLEASE DELETE THREAD

V-8 Sounds Great
Damn. Not sure if I'd be brave enough to run a 10w/15w or 40w oil in my EB. For those running 10w-30 or 15w40, do you hear lifter noise on startup?
Me personally, using 5w30 mobil 1 in winter last year, I noticed some slight lifter noise on startup. Switched to 0w30 for the winter months last year, no more lifter noise.
/Begin rant/ And the for dealer not using the correct oil... that's not the first time I've heard that story. Reason #___ that I won't let dealers touch my truck if I can help it. Have you ever seen what the dealers do to your oil plug? Take a look... sometimes, I swear they use a f'in Vise Grip instead of a socket. My fiancee went to the dealer to get her oil changed (i was out of town), and they destroyed her (my) oil plug, and I had to destroy the oil filter in order to get it off on the next oil change because they overtightened it. Not only that, but they don't let all the old oil drain out. /End rant/
It's hard to get good help these days.
