I never noticed any difference from 87p/t and the 87p/t warranty tune after I upgraded. I only miss the tire size adjustment because my winters are slightly smaller. No biggie.
It would be nice to be able to adjust shift pressures with the warranty tune like I did with the standard tune. I used the feature to soften 3-4 and 4-5 to help some hard shifting while towing. Never tried more than - 10%.

I've been running the 87 p/t tune and I love it. It took about 20 minutes to program from stock and I didn't have any issues. If nothing else, it smoothed out the shifting so much. When I can drive reasonably, I picked up some fuel economy...going from 13.5mpg to 14.5. However, it's hard to because the power over stock is addictive.

Just ordered mine Monday. Got a tracking number from Mike the next day.

Truck seems like it has excessive turbo lag both from a stop and from rolling. Could be transmission lag though or both. Can't wait to have the power and response I expected.

If you run 91 or 89 octane with the 87 perftow tune, will it take some advantage of the extra octane? For HP/TQ?

Yes to a certain extent. It should advance timing a little due to less knock retard. It may not have quite the power as a 91 tune with 91 octane but it would add some. And it probably will take a tank or so before it has finished adding the power.

Reading some of these, I kind of miss my old 5 star tuned 3.5L Eco.

Yes, even the stock tune gains 20HP and 10 ft/lbs going from 87 to premium, and that is how I ran mine.

I did the same - mostly for safety, especially with winter gas. This was especially the case when it came to running custom tunes.

I'm looking at getting a 5* tune. Can I data log my truck and email it to mike just to make sure everything is running smooth with my truck?

I know in colder winter driving the 87p/t was hesitant and surging until everything reached full operating temperatures. Using 91 octane smoothed that out greatly. I must have poor winter gas or the tune is sensing detonation with the cold air and motor more than it did stock.
Mike at 5* made a small adjustment to my 87ptw tune and that cured it too. I don't need to do anything special if temperatures stay above freezing around here.
