I thought a person was supposed to go back to stock....then next custom tune...
I never understood why but thought I read it somewhere...

I think SCT updated the tuner software and now you can go from tune to tune without going back to stock.

maybe this sis something for the newer stuff, but i know on my powerstroke you could go custom to custom, you never had to go back to stock unless you were updating the devices firmware.

You could always go from tune to tune on the EB tunes. I know some were having shifting issues going from tune to tune so it was recommended to go from stock to tune. I believe an update from SCT a few months ago fixed that though.

Updated the software on the tuner and was able to load a canned tune. Wow, this motor has been sleeping for the 18000 miles of it's life. Now I'm looking forward to seeing what Mike's 93 performance tune is all about

Loving the 87perf/tow 5 star tune.Great throttle response, shifting and full throttle power!! My fuel mileage went up on my daily 54 mile commute. Rural hilly and winding roads speeds between 45 and 55 with maybe a stoplight if I hit it at the wrong time. I always averaged between 18.5 and 19 with the stock tune with weather in the 60's with not much wind. Over the past week with the tune I have been averaging between 20.4 to 20.9. I always press the reset button when I start in the morning. Looks like at least a 1.5 mile gain. Next tune will be the 89perf/tow and will report back if it is any better than the 87 tune.

I'm on my 6th tune now with the truck, from 3 different shops.
All have had issues, off idle stumble, waste gates popping, underwhelming performance.

The 5Star 87 tow/performance tune is my favorite of them all.
No it doesnt have the power of the 91 performance tunes....which were the ones giving me off idle stumbles, waste gate popping etc(all were adjusted a bit too)
It does jump up nicely from stock, shift much better, hold gears longer, and generally just has excellent everyday drivability.
I'm not a racer,could care less about my 1/4 mile time,and I tow...
Premium gas up here is now up around $1.35/Liter for premium too....
Since towing season is here this tune is staying in....

I feel the same way. I have had many tunes in my truck but I always end up going back to my 5 Star perf/tow tunes. It's not about flat out track performance for me and more about how it feels in normal driving. Not one of the performance tunes that I have match the low end feel of the 5 Star perf/tow. Not even the 5 Star performance only tune which makes me think if you can only have one or the other since Mike himself can't replicate it in his own performance tune. My Unleashed perfomance tune is the closest I have felt to it but it is still noticeably not the same.

Loaded the 89 tune before I went to work this morning. It does actually feel a little peppier than the 87.(I was figuring the 89 was a re label of the 87 since the octane is so close.) With full throttle idle starts the turbos seem to spool up quicker(very little lag now) and it seems to pull harder after 3krpm. I am going to use it for 2 weeks and check drivability and gas mileage after the adaptive learning has done its thing.

I have noticed the 89 Perf/Tow tune hits hard after 3k rpm as well. I think reading too much about weird trans patterns/shifting made me look for something to be wrong with the tune..
