I was kinda concerned about the performance gains and still being able to tow. It worries me why other tuners do not recommend towing unless you use a lower rated tow tune....
But i think i made the right choice.

Mike did his homework with these tunes. He did extensive testing with a 10k lb trailer to make sure all was well. I went with his tunes because I didn't want to reprogram every time I pulled something. I just wanted a good all around tune.

Same here. I had to change out the Superchips 91 performance to the tow tune a couple times at the last minute and once at a truck stop on the side of the highway to tow my cousins RV for him cause his Chevy started to overheat. If I would have had the 5 Star tune at that time then no worries, just hook up and go. Knowing that my truck is ready at a moments notice to do what I bought it to do without the hassle of having to change the tune or worry if it will even tune correctly when I need it the most may be a small thing to some people, but it goes a very long way in giving me peace of mind with less worry.

+1. The 87 tow/performance tune adds most of the gains of the other 93 perf-only tunes (40 hp and 110 ft-lb), but can do everything the stock truck can do. Win-win!

I have to give a big thumbs up to Mike @ 5 Star for both his tunes and his customer service. I had the new tune files sitting in my email inbox approx 15 min after i submitted the order. I was hoping to see them before the weekend and was blown away to see them that soon.

As for the tunes, I have been running the canned SCT files (93 Octane mostly) for a couple weeks. What pretty much everyone else has said about the shifting in Mikes tunes is correct. I am currently running his 91 Perf/Tow as I have a tank of 93 still in the truck and it shifts perfectly and always seems to be in the correct gear. I don't know if there is actually any additional HP but it sure feels like it with his TQ Converter locking magic. It really pulls much harder and is awesome for real world driving, no clue if it would be any faster at the track.

If you are on the fence about changing from the canned SCT files don't worry, you will be amazed at the difference in driveability.

Looking at getting in on the Holiday deal. I had a question about the tunes. Would it possible to get just performance tunes only as the three tunes or is it just the performance/tow that are available since i had no plans on towing anything even close to max. The only thing I might tow is my Harley.

There has already been one forum member that posted saying he got an all performance no tow tune that Mike made him. If you go this route, I would recommend at least one tune being his perf/tow. Trust me, they put some of the others all performance tunes to shame. Call Mike and he will answer your questions.
