If you have had any updates from the dealer or other tuners your strategy may not match what is written on your ECM (or wherever it is written, I haven't been able to find it).

I am having an issue with getting Mike's 93 tune loaded. Been working with him since they day he released the 93 tune. Been exchaning emails and working with SCT also.

I can get the 87 tune to load fine and really enjoy driving it but have been unsuccessful to load the 93 tune. Gets to "Setup Device" goes to 100% then gets stuck.

I am very happy with the 87 tune but run premium most of the time because I feel I get better results from the truck (not open for debate discussion, I see/feel a difference in different areas, not looking for opinions) and want to run the 93 tune for the added up top power when needed.

I run SCT's 91 vs 87 tune because my truck just seems to run better on 91. I was averaging 17mpg stock and I seem to be hovering around 18 so far with the SCT 91. I'm waiting for 5 stars 91 economy tune to show up in my email so I can test his mpg and shifting. On a side note I also have a 2012 3.7L 2wd F150 that I drive for work every day. I was averaging 21mpg with that until I put a topper on it with a ladder rack and loaded it up with tools and supplies, now I average 17mpg. I love the shifting in that truck. I wish my EB would shift just like it.

I am in the same boat also.

***DISCLAIMER: I've posted this on a similar thread about custom tunes for MPG, but also wanted to post on this thread since it has more activity***

I'm going to order from 5 Star tomorrow. Trying to decide which 3 custom tunes to get. I definitely want the 87 Perf/Tow tune and the 93 Perf/Tow tune. For the last one, I'm trying to decide between the 89 Perf/Tow tune and the (soon to be released) 87 Economy tune.

I'm leaning towards the Economy tune, just to have as an option for a long trip or something. My only concern would be any lack of power or boost. Do you think his Economy tune will simply tweak the engine to get better mileage without a sacrifice of the stock power OR will there be a noticeable drop in HP and TQ to get a measurable mpg increase?

When I spoke to mike he told me that his Economy tune will make it so the truck does not see boost until much higher then stops RPM. Making it truly feel like a V6 until it gets higher up in the RPM

Okay. I may go with this tune as my 3rd choice. At least I'll have an economy option, when performance and towing is not needed.

Ordered my 88 perf/tow tune this morning. I'll let you know how it runs when it gets here. I have a device to measure 0-60, 1/4 mile, and some other performance measures. I may go make some baseline runs tonight to see where I stand stock.

Okay, I just pulled the plug and placed an order. Hopefully, I can get it next week. I'm really looking forward to the new ride.

UPDATE...I just got an e-mail from 5 Star and they're shipping it to me today. That was quick!

Ordered my 5star SCT tuner on Sunday, arrived in the mail on Wednesday (From SC to WA state). Just loaded up the 93 Perf/Tow Tune (took about 10 minutes for the first time). It feels like a whole new truck! Before the tune I had the usual turbo lag, but it seems now that has almost disappeared. WOT gives you an ear to ear grin and its very hard to keep the wheels hooked when you floor it from a stand still. Was on the freeway and went to pass someone, halfway expecting the lag to be there when I got into the throttle but it was non existent and the power was there just about instantly.

I am also very interested in the 93 Economy tune once it comes out. I will report back in a week or so on the MPG's for the Perf/Tow tune. I am not expecting any gains as I have a feeling it will be very difficult to granny this truck now. I was on the fence this last weekend but after hearing good reviews by others and then experiencing the tunes myself, I would recommend this to anyone!
