Got my 93 from 5 star yesterday, after hours. Thanks again Mike

Transmission strategy is superb, will bark the tires into second at WOT. Found that out on accident, pulled out on a roll and put it down for traffic just before the 1-2 shift, barks it hard. Mike has completely redone how the trans shifts at part throttle, alot tighter shifts and it keeps it in the power band all the way to 45, drop below 45 or so and it's back in 5th. Now this might seem funky to some people but for towing, its perfect. Easy city driving. Great WOT pull, not as hard as some others but considering this is able to tow factory specs, way more than you would expect. Perfect. For the day, with several WOT runs, a lot of idling I still averaged 20.5 mpg. Honestly better than my average day by 1mpg. Time will tell.

Bought this tune for the intention of running it daily, not having to change to tow. Really happy. Great tune mike!

Plan on making a couple vid's to show how it works.

Quick question.....when installing a 5 star tune over a canned tune do you need to reflag the truck to stock or can you install it over the canned tune? Thanks for the help!

Just got my SCT with 3 5star tunes in the mail. Can't wait to try it out. One thing I just remembered is the gas in my tank is only 92 (went to a different station last fill up), and I have the 93 Perf/Tow tune. I am hesitant to try it out tonight. Should I wait to empty the 92 and then fill up with 93 or would it be okay to run 92 on the 93 tune?

Anyone put enough miles on to say whether a fuel mileage improvement is noticeable? I'm about to pull the trigger but would like to see at least a small improvement. I'm going to go with an 88 octane tune since that is mid grade around my parts.

I think you would be okay if you stayed off the throttle and out of the boost which may be hard to do with a new tuner. It may be safer just to wait till you get a full tank of 93. Good luck.

Ok something has gotta be wrong with my tunes. I was busy all day so didn't get a chance to call Mike, but came up with some ideas while at work.

First... Put the original downloaded files on my desktop instead of using shortcut.
Second... Reloaded both 87 and 91 tunes
Third... Loaded truck back to stock
Fourth.. Loaded 87 tune again
Drove truck.... no change.. felt like stock threw CEL again.

So I loaded truck back to stock again truck was on empty. Went to gas station filled with 91 octane. Loaded 91 octane tune, and it was the same. No change ! Loaded back to SCT 91 octane tune and my power was back.

Definitively gonne get in contact with Mike tomorrow.

Did you recheck the calibration code you gave Mike was correct? Check it via the tuner to make sure the sticker on your ecm is correct.

Just checked and the PCM SW ID on the Tuner differs from any numbers on my ECM, but not sure if that is supposed to be the same number as the p/n on the ECM. I see no actual numbers on my ECM say PCM SW ID? I cant find any strategy code numbers on the ECM either like I had read in a previous SCT post?

Here is a guide to view your strategy code in the tuner, or you can scroll down and select "Where is my PCM Code" here to find it on your ECM. This was the code you should have given mike when you sent in a calibration request.

I have already emailed Mike to come in here to help you out. I would call him tomorrow to get you up and running or email him which he he usually responds very quickly.

Yeah I got my strategy code off my tuner already, but don't know what I am supposed to check it against. Is it supposed to be on the ECM somewhere? Yes I gave Mike the correct PCM code off my ECM.

Thanks for the help BTW. I'm sure Mike will get this straightened out, I have only heard good things about him and his tunes (reason I bought this). I should have time to contact him tomorrow.
