If you want to run the Boss intake make sure you get a circle d converter.with your 3.31 gear the boss is going to kill your 60'.

You think switching to 4.10 gears without a converter would still be sufficient?

Wasn't you picking the difference in the times back up on the top end with the boss intake? Also, do you think the GT intake cams helped you out much?

I had 331 gears in my truck stock and changed them out to 3.73's.....They made a noticeable difference all over, so I am sure gears will help either way.

Just the cost of the gears from Tousley ford and a shim kit. I put them in myself so I didn't have any labor cost.

The 4.10 helped to make up for the loss of TQ down bottom but the converter was the Big difference.except for the tune ALL the other parts, cams, headers, intake, exhaust, all are small gains but all together add up nicely.
If you check with the Mustang forums you will see that the 4.10 gear is more for comfort than et and this is why.the 3.55 gear in a low 13. Second truck finishes the pass at the very end of third gear at about 6500 rpms right where you want to be,but the 4.10 gear finished at about 6000 or less in fourth and its just starting to pull hard when you cross through the traps.what this means is the 3.55 or 3.73 might be a little quicker but they dont make a 4.30 or 4.56 at this time for our trucks.imo

Very good info. I've been debating 3.73 or 4.10 since I bought my truck. Seems like all my initial decisions about what mods I want to do are changing.
