5.0L stumbles at 4000 RPM
She runs like a champ when in gear, but, in Park when I rev it, the 4000 rpm point is where it seems to be limited ... even though I did the rev limiter delete with my handheld tuner. Does it between 1-2 gear shifts, as well, but, not between other gears shifts.
When in gear, it will go all the way to 7000+ rpm (even though I hardly ever get anywhere close to that high). It's just aggravating to wind 1st gear to 6000 rpm, shift = bog, then it hits 2nd and takes off like a rocket again. Anyone else experience this same behavior?

Good idea. My new K&N CAI just arrived, so, I'll be installing it on Saturday morning ... be a good time to re-tune. I'll report back whether it corrects the issue or not.

It's strange it does this between 1-2 gear shifts, but not between any other gear shifts. Guess I'll have to eventually have that tuned out.

Rev limiter when in park is a whole different setting. You'd need something like HP-Tuners or EFI Live to change that...no handheld will touch it that I know of...and neither of the those mentioned products is available for our engines...I'm just assuming the Ford settings are similar to the GMs I've tuned in the past. Anyway, whenever mine (stock PCM) shifts 1-2 at 6k it goes down to ~4k...it's just the gearing. In manual mode there seems to be a little more torque mgmt built in than while in Tow/Haul. What mode are you using to shift?

Had a similar problem with mine after tune with tire calibration of speedo. Mine was doing the 1-2 shift at 6600rpm WOT. There are two suspect settings for you to look at. First is the rpm in gear, mine was set at 6700. During the gear change the, in that fraction of a second, the rpm would increase enough to bump that limit and cause the condition. The second is the setting for the 1-2 shift at speed. I reduced mine 2mph. This dropped the rpm for WOT 1-2 to 6500rpm. No more bogging at shift change. I could have upped the limit in gear, but decided 6500rpm is as much as I wanted it turning any way.

These Rpms are crazy... Both my 5.4s lost steam in the mid 5k rpms. amazing...

My truck just keeps pulling up through the 6000 rpm range. Just under 6000 rpm, it stops pulling as hard, but, it's still pulling all the way up. It's just the 1-2 gearshift where it bogs. I have used HP Tuners on my Trans Am, but, I don't race anymore, so, not looking to spend a lot of money to buy software to tune the truck with. The bog between 1-2 is when I'm in Drive. I tried it out yesterday in the Manual select mode and it doesn't bog between the shift at all. The torque converter just stays locked and hits 2nd gear instantaneously, with no hesitation at all. I'll try knocking the rev limiter down a notch, as suggested. With the torque coming on string in the 4000-5000 range, shifts at a lesser rpm ... say 6200-63500 will likely net a little better 1/4 mile time.
