I am looking to try and find a good tune for my truck to improve power and MPGs. I looked through here and was hoping to see some reports on the increase of MPGs, but didn't see any. Does anyone have any input? From what I have read, with the MPT tune, there isn't much difference in MPG from economy to performance, is that right? I would only be interested in the 87oct tune. I also have a CAI and catback exhaust if that means anything in reference to a tune. I am new to the idea of tuning, but I would really like to increase my MPGs. These gas prices are getting hard to swallow every week.

Anyone want to bet his next post will be something along the lines of "omg. I can't believe it. The shifting is awesome. It takes off like a scaled dog. I'll never run stock tune again."

Well, that's pretty much what the rest of us said anyway.

note: just a reminder. don't forget you can't run a lower octane fuel than the tune that is in the truck. However, you can run higher octane fuel than the tune.

+1mpg on both the eco and perf tune on my truck, the tune really isnt for an increase in MPG, even the economy. It's for better shiftpoints and an overall better driving experience.

You're right, the CAI and catback did nothing performance wise for you. It may squeak out an extra .5mpg but i wouldn't count on it when coupled with a tune.

Thanks. I was hoping to try to squeeze atleast 2mpg out of it. I had seen somewhere someone claiming they got 4 but I didn't think that was realistic. My only gripe about my truck is the 16 mpg I get. But I think I will still go the route of a tune because I still would like a bit better response while driving. Just have to keep researching to figure out what I am going to settle with.

does MPT do custom tuning and by that i mean send me a base tune, i do data logging and send it back and receive a new tune. then back and forth until they get the logs to their satisfaction.

if not, does any tuner do this for the F150 5.0? i had that on my 2011 Mustang 5.0 and it was a beast.

That is exactly what they are doing with me on my supercharger tune.

Stock 5.0 with a MPT 87 Performance Street tune. I think that is the tune. According to my butt dyno the shifting and acceleration is much more responsive. Only had it a couple of days but no gain in MPG yet. I went from stock 18" to aftermarket 20" wheels and the tune adjusted for that too.
