5.0s are sooo much better once you add a blower than the ecoboost or wutever isnt ****, a blower is only 6k and will blow ur mind and the doors off of any ram chevy and even ecoboost.

But, to be able to add 100hp and 100ftlbs by just spending $400 on a tuner and tunes (it was only $130 for me as I already had a tuner), gives an advantage to the eco for an average owner.
I've done blowers on my past trucks, they do have their draw-backs other than just the sheer cost.
OP, what are your goals? Do you want to focus on performance? Anything to improve functionality that you're thinking about?

Absolutely. the 5.0 is bigger displacement, so you add forced induction it has more potential.

Advantage how so when the Eco boost was almost 4K more option you realize that.
I bought my f150 fx2 5.0 brand new in 2012 for 30k, the same truck but with ecoboost they wanted 34k so 5.0 cheaper payment add he super charger I think I have the advantage now

Heck, my brother bought a Eco last year too and even though he didn't care what motor he got, he told the sales guy he wasn't paying the extra for the Eco and they dropped it of his price.
So like I stated, the average dude isn't going to pony up $7500 for a blower (Whipple, plus install), but they are more likely going to spend $500 to get a decent bump in HP. You can just use this forum as an example, there are many, many more running tunes in the Eco then those adding blowers to the 5.0.
The price is even worse for us north of the border with our crap dollar. A good friend of mine (who I went to college with to be a mechanic), just installed a Roush blower on a 2014 Raptor and it cost the owner $15k out the door (blower, install, dyno, custom tune). Huge power, but adding considerable cost. It just depends on how deep your wallet is.

I know this is getting off topic, but this thread kinda derailed already.
When I bought my '11, the 5.0 was $1000 more than the base 3.7. The 3.5 was another $1000 over the 5.0.
So technically, the EcoBoost would have cost me $2000 more over the base V6.
Both motors have their pros and cons. I didn't want the EcoBoost because of price and the little advantage in mileage. In 2011, the 5.0 was rated at 14/20. The Ecoboost was rated at 14/23 I believe. Back in 2011 I did the math with the gas prices of that time. Assuming you got the full 23 MPG (which I wouldn't...mostly city driving 6 miles roundtrip to work), it would take three years just to break even on the extra $1000 over the 5.0. Plus I wanted a V8 because although I'm not that old, I'm a dinosaur.
End of rant

So this thread turned into another pissing match between 5.0 and eco. Why eco guys are in here giving their comments get away from OP but I am interested in any good upgrades you guys are doing to the 5.0. That's what is in mine and if your reading posts on this forum your trying to make your truck work best for your liking. ;-)

Any updates OP on your mods? I'm looking to do the same thing as you on my 2014 and I'm not mechanically inclined as most here so looking for advice. Not sure why nobody mentioned a cat-back exhaust in this thread, unless I overlooked it. I have recently been looking into one of those, maybe the roush. I don't want anything too loud. Are they not worth it?
