Frustrating.

Anybody figure out how to get a good reading on the dipstick?

Just got a new 2013 and nothing changed. It is really stupid to have that where it is. Are you listening Ford??

I have never had a problem getting an accurate reading on the dipstick with my 5.0. I think the trick is to let the truck sit for at least a couple of hours after the engine has been running at all. Everytime I do that, I get a nice clean reading on the stick. The problem is trying to reach it as I can barely reach it even when standing on a milk carton. I am only 5'6''.

The remedy (unless you want to - get the trans' to operating temp', level the truck, and crawl underneath) .....

X2. Also 6'4", and I have to really stretch to reach it. They could have added a longer handle on it, and that would have surficed.

The transmission check dipstick is ridiculous, but the truck is pretty easy to get under.

I have to stand on a stool to check the oil in my 5.0 from under the hood. I have been able to reach the dipstick from behind the front tire and push it up enough to get it from under the hood and not use a stool. To put it back in, drop it from the top and feed it in the hole through the wheel well. Works if you are away from home and didn't pack a stool.

2012 is the same. Too low, and too far back

Turn the wheel to the left quite a ways and then climb up on top of the tire. This is what I did today. I can't get a good reading either.
