Hell, mine will break the rear tires loose shifting to second with the nanny on using E85. Doesn't last long, the traction control blips the throttle long enough to stop then from spinning more than a second. With regular, she'll chirp then.

With the traction control off, she'll spin the tires up through third and chirp fourth.

Just E85. I also have been breaking it in with plenty of hard running so it learns to shift crisp. I am running E85 for the first time this tank, and have had so much fun running her hard, that I have only got 13 mpg on the first half tank.

This engine really wakes up on this stuff. Does anyone make an E85 tune? That would be a tune worth having!

I am not surprised that this motor wakes up on e85. It is a fairly high compression motor for a truck at 10.5:1 and you can do a lot with fuel that is naturally 95-98 octane. Of course there isn't much value in it unless there is a significant discount.

Okay....I'm green here, but E85 is cheaper than pure gasoline? Right.... Why is it your vehicle will get worse gas milage according the manual. But I see here others on post are saying E85 has more power. Please enlighten me to my stupidity...

E85 is 85% ethanol/15% gas. Ethanol is grain alcohol. It has less energy per volume than gas, but because of its resistance to combustion it equates itself to higher octane than gasoline. The engine, when equipped can "tune" itself for this octane change thus increasing timing, making more power. In other applications, such as carbureted, you would have to increase the jet size to add volume but you can add timing because its less likely to knock, because of the octane...its not exactly like octane but is comparable to 105+ (I've seen some say 117 octane).

E85 is comparable to around 95 octane. E100 gets closer to 100 octane but nowhere near 117. Also, don't forget that you can lose serious mpg if you daily drive your vehicle. My jlp e85 tune got me 12mpg on the highway and is only $0.20 cheaper per gallon in this part of the country. While my 91 (no ethanol) 5star tune feels just as fast and I'm getting 18 mostly city driving. The cost is just not worth it. I did love the trans tuning on the JLP e85, will deffinetly get a 91tune from them soon.

E85 is 105 equivalent.

Thanks for that info. I just got a 2012 5.0 liter, and for you experienced guys who are adverse to upgrades, I really would like to increase the sound of this awesome V8, but for the short term am not wanting to revamp the whole exhaust system, at least as of yet. Could someone advise if there is anything I could do to raise engine noise (such as changing out muffler or converter), but not to the point where a loud drone would drive us nuts? Thanks Mike
