Default Ecoboost Oil...

I searched but never did find any threads. I'm thinking of using AmsOil 5W-30 for the next oil change. The S-Crew in question is a 2014, 4x4, 3.5L EB, 3.73 gears. 13k miles on it, and I'm in South Texas in a warm climate.

Based on what I read on the 5.4L threads, this oil is the best stuff, but I am open to other suggestions...

Most people stick with the Motorcraft oil. Its a good semi-synthetic oil and cheap to get at WalMart. Addtionally, Motorcraft does make a synthetic motor oil as well, its harder to find, but usually carried at the dealers for roughly $7/quart.

I used to sell amsoil. Its great oil but spendy, even if your a dealer. Honestly its not worth the hassle. I would defiantly run a quality synthetic if you are going 10k + miles / oil change but I wouldnt do that on a DI motor. 5k/change is what I recommend. Motocraft oil is great stuff and readily available.

I've had good results with Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 or 5W20 depending on if it's the car or truck. A great oil and relatively affordable at Wal-Mart or on sale at your local parts place.

If you are going to use AMSOIL, use the Signature Series (SS) or the XL series as those are the better of the 3 engines oils they offer. SS being capable of up to 25,000 miles or 1 year if you are inclined to go that long, and if not you know the oil is formulated to go that far, not 3,000 miles. The XL up to 10,000 miles. The SS 5W-30 is their most popular oil. The OE oils is designed for the quick lube market who push the 3,000 mile oil change.

I have used AMSOIL for many years, longer than I care to admit. Would not consider anything else. I like using products from a company that formulates, blends and packages synthetic lubricants in the United States, Superior, Wisconsin.

I've bought 2 brand new EB F-150's off the lot and they both had their first oil change after about 1000 miles and had Pennzoil Platinum w/ Motorcraft filter after that at every oil change.

Any official review site for various oil brands you will always find the Platinum at or near the top along with many of the others already mentioned in this thread, but for a hell of a lot cheaper.

I'm a long time Mobil 1 user, started using synthetics when I had my 97 F150 with the 4.6L. And continued with M1 with the 2004 5.4L. I switched to Motorcraft filters some years ago, and have stuck with them.

13K on the EB now, and coming up on its 4th oil change, so I went ahead and ordered the 5w-30 Signature Series AmsOil. I think 5-6K between changes is all I plan to do on this engine, however.
