Here's a pretty good thread on another forum about the hesitation. I finally found a station that sells E85 and noticed my cold start issue is gone. Probably the extra octane in E85 helps from retarding the timing at start up.

Exactly. The cold start hesitation and rough idle is by design. Well, sort of.

Dealer says my truck runs great. No issue. Sad state of affairs if that is the tune they supply. My Lightnings were much better than this. I guess it does not matter. After the Roush kit goes on the factory tune will be history. Warranty isn't worth the paper is it written on anyway.....

I've had my 5.0 for a year and mine just did this for the first time ever after sitting a couple days out in the cold

There is a thing in the manual for this. Look up the battery relearn in your manual. It should be in the maintenance section I believe.

My truck is doing the same (2012 f150 fx4 5.0L). I got my 60,000 Maintenance done and it went away for a short time but its slowly coming back. first time it hits 1500 RPM it will hesitate/buck for a few sec's and then never do it again until the next cold start. Problem is it doesnt do it all the time... Anyone found any solutions on this yet?

I've been using e85 last couple months and no longer get the hesitation on cold starts.
