3,200 mile trip w/ 3.7 Screw
Now have total of over 7,000 miles on the 2011 Screw XLT w/ 3.73 rear.... wonder if I am getting good mileage on the recent 3,200 mile trip to Delaware from Florida.... then over to Columbus, Ohio, then thru Kentucky to Ft. Campbell, Ky and back to Florida. Total trip returned actual results of 19.51 MPG with mostly interstate and some local driving.
I could see a big difference when cruising at less than 2,000 RPM on the tach.... mileage was around the 22-23 MPG mark ........ but as soon as I pushed it to over 70 MPH and the tach showed about 22-2300 rpm, the MPG dropped down to less than 20 MPG. Sunoco gas load was worst and suspect high ethanol content ( got in eastern Ohio) seemed to do best with NO ETHANOL tankful used at start of trip = 22.5) I was pleased with about 19 "around town" performance but thought that it might deliver a bit better on the interstates ??? Anyone else with the 3.7 experience this drop-off over 2,000 rpm sustained for 70-74 MPH ??? I wonder if the 5.0 with the 3.73 rear would deliver similar or better performance on the hiway? Figured it would be less around town ??? Headed in wednesday for first oil change service...... Gotta admit tho that this is one of the mopst comfortable trucks I have ever driven and I have owned Fords for over 45 years now! Love the Sync too!

FX4 SCrew TT'd V6
Great to hear. Though it is not the advertised mileage, still good in a Full Size SCrew pick up truck with those rear gears IMO. I am getting ready to go to Chapel Hill, NC from Columbia, MO and back. I anticipate I will average 19 mpg, we shall see.

3.7
I just bought a 2011 F150 STX 3.7 4x2. Only had it about 2 weeks or so, I did take it on a ~700 mile trip or so, mostly interstate and I got 22.7 mpg for the whole trip. Had the cruise set on 68 or so.
Fill the tank, hit 500 miles with 1/4 of a tank left. Not bad I guess. I'm not sure if my feedback counts since I haven't even hit 1000 miles on the truck yet and I think that is considered the "break in" period.
Thanks,
Mike

Here in Canada the fuel rating is determined for highway by doing 23 minutes of driving at an average speed of 77kph with a max of 97kph(60mph).
No matter how you analyze it that is driving slowly on the interstate.
We don't do that so the mileage we get is going to be lower.

Old, here's my mileage on our trip from Concord, NC to Disney. This is the overall mileage for the complete trip. Trip A was never reset. I wanted the 3.55 gears, but Ford and their combo convienence/tow package screwed me there. I've been thinking about swaping the 3.73 for the 3.55, but don't know if it's worth the cost. You are correct, at 70 mph there is a considerable loss in mpg's.
