280 miles to much on a new ecoboost off the lot?
Local deal has the truck with all the options I want but it has 280 miles on it from test drives. Is this to many unknown test drives for the ecoboost? Damage done to break in period if these test drives just floores it the whole time? Or no sweat?

I doubt it has seen much abuse if any on test drives. In most cases the salesman is present on test drives. Flooring it a little from time to time is a good thing during break in.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Make sure to do a thorough walk through first though. The Maxima I had before the truck had road rash on one of the wheels. They tried talking me into taking delivery and coming back for a "repair". I told them someone else could take a defect off the lot, I wanted mine perfect. Took me an extra hour at delivery but it was worth the time.
You'll get lots of debate on engine break-in. IMHO as long as it hasn't been used to tow for 1k miles, I wouldn't worry too much about test drivers flooring it. Some believe that's actually good for a new engine.
My sales guy barely took my personal information before sending me off on my own for the test drive. He gave me the keys, I sat in the truck fiddling with some of the electronics and he came back to the truck and said, "by the way, can I get your name and phone number." Never took my DL or asked for proof of insurance.
Not only that, when I decided to go ahead and trade my wife's Fusion in, he told me to take the Explorer home and let her drive it around. When I told him that would take over an hour he didn't blink.
It's not often I think I'll hunt a sales guy down on subsequent purchases, but I will in this case.

When I bought mine it was 120 miles from my house to the dealer. I floored it a few times and I think lots of my customers floored it also lol. 67000 Kms later and I've never had an issue with.

I had 350 miles on the clock out the door...truck was originally delivered to Tomball Ford (Dallas area?) and was traded to Johnson Brothers Ford (Temple). Add some test drives, and the miles add up. I have had no issues, just turned 10,000 miles.

i put the vehicle through it's paces when i test drive them. Brakes, acceleration, handling, etc. Not a huge fan of buying new with hundreds of miles on them, that is why i buy new- to reassure myself i took care of my truck like i know how to from day one.

How many miles, roughly, should be on a vehicle that was special ordered?
I didn't even take notice when I picked up my truck back in '07.
I'd like to know though for when I go to buy a new one.
